Netflix Problem with Xbox NXE

I have downloaded the NXE update and linked up my netflix account. I am loving the new interface & movie features. I noticed some problems. Some movies I had watched and took out of my que are still showing up on NXE. Some shows I add aren't going over (not Sony stuff). I just added the 1, 2, & 3 seasons of "The Office" TV series and they never show up??

Anyone else having problems with their netflix que?

I think I found the solution... you have to select newly added movies and add them to your "instant que" as well as regular que. This looks like more of a netflix bug.. it should add movies to both ques.

Heh. Yup.

You need an Xbox Live Gold account and a Netflix account. The cheapest you can get a Netflix account with streaming is $8.99 and it comes with one disk rental. $13.99 gets you streaming and two disks out. $16.99 for streaming and three disks out.

Why would a person need a rental if they can stream? Does it cover everything? Is quality good?

quality is good.

it is not the entire Netflix library though...only the movies which are available for instant viewing.

its supposedly like 10,000 titles i think... youd have to actually sign up for the free trial to check out whether theres enough for you or not.

Quality depends on your connection. 3mbps and up seems to get the better quality.

As murphy mentions, it isn't the entire Netflix library. It is mostly older titles and not new releases. I switched from Blockbuster to Netflix because the value is now better with Netflix IMHO.

It's not a bug, it's an intentional design. If the movie is available for streaming, the "Add" button will be split into "Play" and "Add". If you hover over "Play" it will give you the option to add it to your instant queue.

I tried a free trial. I lasted 3 hours. I couldn't find any good recent movies for streaming and the movies I did find had horrible quality. It looked like I was trying to watch some old cam rips in svcd format on my 1080p screen. For the moment renting via my tv service, xbox live, or driving to the video store produces much better results.

It's a shame that I can get better quality video online easier illegally then legally.

That's too bad it has only old movies. I almost never watch old movies because I rarely watch a movie twice and I only choose new releases. I figure if I missed it the first time it was probably not worth my time. Will Netflix start streaming their entire content soon or is this more an issue of they're not allowed to because the studios will only let them stream stuff nobody really cares about now anyway?

It's more of a licensing issue. Movie studios don't want to hurt DVD sales. That's why the new movie releases for Live Video Marketplace and PSN Movies typically happen two weeks or more after the DVD is released.

It would be nice if Netflix got movies for streaming around the same time as Live Video Marketplace but you know that's not going to happen because then it would destroy Live Video Marketplace.

My queue is approaching 500 :Q I hope they don't limit you to 500 in the instant queue.

The quality is quite good, pretty much DVD quality if you get 4 bars when it's determining your connection speed.

I don't have any issues with the quality either. I'd rate it better than SD TV for SD Content.

My only problem is that they require a Live Gold account on top of a Netflix account in order to stream movies. I'm not paying for both!

What the point of having an Xbox if you don't have Live? Live is less than $4 per month and netflix is a standard $8.99 + tax per month. I don't see what your are complaining about.

Meh, I think he has a valid complaint. There's plenty of folks who don't have use for live and IMO it's kind of odd to only offer this service for gold members. I guess that's the way MS get's money out of the deal but it sucks for a lot of people.

i signed up for Live just for netflix.

i got in on the buy.com messenger pack deal tho..and ebayed my chatpad, so it cost me like 25 bucks for a year. not bad

Microsoft is obviously paying money for something here. Whether they paid Netflix for exclusivity, or they are providing services (servers, bandwidth, Silverlight, etc), it's costing money for Microsoft to bring Netflix streaming to us - and it's a pretty good feature too. It's not surprising that it's not available for Silver members.

People complain, "There isn't a big enough difference between Gold and Silver memberships to justify the cost of Gold."

MS adds features to Gold.

People complain, "I can't believe this isn't available for Silver!"

Yup, can't please everybody unfortunately. Better to please those who are paying for the service first and think of silver later.

I dunno, to play games maybe? At least that's what I bought mine for. I don't need online play to justify having a 360.

Only things I've noticed is motion that's not very smooth in some of the titles. Usually older 80s movies, probably from either a wierd transfer or bad encoding process. I've not noticed any motion problems with HD titles. However, it's rare that I get all the way through an HD title without dropping down a tier or two (even with 4 bars). Comcast should be providing an adequate connection....but...oh well.

I wonder how I'm going on my 250GB quota. The wife and I have been utterly abusing this service.

I love the service so far, I'm looking at upping my cable internet to 10 mb so I can get the HD stuff consistently.

I'll probably try this service. I'm sure it's been asked before but is there a list anywhere of the titles that are available to be streamed over the 360? I googled it but didn't see anything.
