Netflix or something else???

you really do have to get out of those genres to find good stuff, though. That assumes that you're willing to expand your horizons, though. 😉

I was really tired last night and missed this part. I am open to other types of movies, I have a wife and 3 year-old daughter so I am used to watching all kinds of stuff.

I am pretty darn sure you have not investigated ALL the available streaming movies to know what 99% of them are.

This is an issue that comes up frequently and since I long ago grew tired of making up new arguments I guess I have to go back to the old standards.

There is nothing wrong with Netflix. They offer assloads of streaming for free.
FREE.
Meaning you dont pay. The price is the same (and quite reasonable) regardless of whether you stream or not. And the DVD/Bluray selection is equaled by no one else. DVD Empire is OK, but they have far less selection and higher prices, also slower mail turnaround. And they charge for streaming. And its not as good.
Blockbuster isnt so hot either.

Quit crying.
Only in an incredibly spoiled society like hours would people complain about having millions of hours of entertainment available to them for 8.99 a month and still find something to bitch about.

I was asking if something out there had a better selection for streaming than Netflix. I have a DVD and Blu-ray player but I live one mile from Blockbuster if I want to rent one. I am looking for a good streaming site with a good selection of videos, and it honestly lacks from what I have seen.

I have seen a lot of movies that are decent to good of what they have available for streaming.

I didn't realize Vudu was a console/device only service. Interesting, i tried a free preview of a movie and it looked pretty good. Haven't been interested in paying for a movie, but I would try one.

PS3 requires a disk for netflix =\ but I don't have to pay for XboxLive so I guess there's that. It does let you search through categories, though this is very limited. Best way is to have movies in your instant Que.

Netflix streaming is good, but the selection is somewhat limited. I just really wish they would cycle titles out faster.

Studios really need to allow a company to come out with a $40-50 a month plan for unlimited streaming of anything available on DVD/BR.

That price point is too high and I doubt many would adapt it. But I agree that Studios do need to get on the ball and perhaps use technology to their advantage for distribution rather than be frightened and wish everyone still watched movies 'the good old way'.

I'd prefer some company allow me to consume any media I want, however I want, as much as I want, and legally. Basically Piracy, but legal and for a reasonable cost. Better versions of what I currently pay for, zunepass/Netflix. I guess this is too much to ask though.

Whats??? I want to use netflix on my xbox 360. Well, if can't i guess i can hook up the PC but thats not as elegant as a solution.

It's only the browsing of random movies that is affected. You can still watch any movie from your instant streaming queue that you added using your computer. So just add movies using your computer, then watch them in whatever order you want on your console.

You don't need a disc to stream on the 360. The browsing interface isn't very good on the console, but you have an "Instant Queue" that you can manage online, so it's easier to get on the PC for like 2 minutes and add all the movies you want to watch to it.

yeah, you do have your instant queue that holds everything that you save. There are also several categories pre-selected that remain in the consoles browser, and a few that shuffle around depending on your most recent viewing/voting habits.

someone on AT showed a screen cap of their PS3 browser for Netflix that had a menu that would search the entire streaming library. WTF does mine not have that???

There's nothing legal that's better than Netflix for streaming.

Try some TV shows, like Dr. Who, Torchwood, Farscape, Buffy & Angel, Bones, 24. Lost, ....

Good movies can be hard to find, but Moon and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo were both worth watching. There's a fair amount of cheesy schlock like Tokyo Gore Police.

The anime selection is improving, but sadly most of it is dubbed instead of subtitled.

I've used it mainly for streaming TV shows and getting blu-ray movies.

I'm surprised how great the quality is for newer TV shows. Dollhouse looked awesome.

How could one possibly think the online streaming movie collection is poor? It's full of crappy yet awesome action movies. Tons of JCVD and Seagal, they have Bloodsport 1 and 2. They have quite a bit, even if they aren't the best, there's always something on Netflix I want to see, always.

Supposedly they are working on a an update for the netflix 360 app that allows browsing of the entire streaming library etc. No idea when it will be done though.

If you haven't watched it yet, try Red Dwarf.

I watched all the series/seasons last month. I wasn't expecting it to be that funny or well written, but it was. I highly recommend watching the first couple of episode - you'll be smegging hooked.

Netflix on the 9.99 plan > almost every other streaming option out there.

@SlitheryDee: thanks for the link!
