I don't know why you would just check the box and hope that the guys that get paid to open envelopes all day would get it right all the time.

Yeah. That box they put there is pretty misleading. It says "please send a replacement". It SHOULD say "Please send a replacement, if it is convienent for your letter opener to do so, because I'm not really expecting one back, but it would be nice if it came".

Oh, and my DVD Player is not an issue, as I have said before. You can always tell an unplayable DVD from the numerous SCUFFS and SCRATCHES.

Not true, actually. What is the make and model of your player? Some are less sensitive to damaged discs.

A couple things come to mind. First thing is that you do not get charged if a disk gets lost in the mail. If you loose alot they may begin to wonder and then might charge you. I've lost maybe 3 and never had a problem. The other thing is breakable or unplayable disks, I never check that box on the envelope. What you do is go to the webpage and tell them there. They have a section setup where you can tell them whats up and if you want a replacement or not.

Ah..so that checkbox is essentially useless.

No idea. I imagine if you do it online (report a shipping problem is what you click) they flag it so they know there is a bad one coming in. I forget but I think they even send a new one out before they get the bad one back.

Anyone else having similar problems?

once again, the problem is the user. go to their website and report the problem on their special "report a problem" page. that's what it's for. you will have the option of getting a replacement or just having them rush out the next disc in your queue. duh.

I have been on the 8 DVDs out at a time plan for a while and I never had any problems except one time when the white sleeve and the dvd inside didn't match. I have gone over 300 DVDs with Netflix.

And you obviously can't read.

Why do they have the option on the sleeve of the DVD cover? It says "Problems? Indicate Below:"

"Duh."

I know this is a delayed post but ;) have you even had your account "slowed" because you rent to much?

Maybe you just have a crappy distro center.

All the DVDs I have gotten over the weeks of my membership have been FLAWLESS. I am impressed.
I also get pretty good turn-around time.

i canceled my mebership last week. My postal person was loosing DVD's and they'd show up like 3-4 days late and in one case 2 weeks late. Its like she couldn't keep track of all her mail so i was getting screwed. Even netflix started wondering what was going on. Then on top of all that they increased their rate...i said screw that and canceled my account onl to find they tried shipping one more DVD before i canceled and then told me i had 4 days after they shipped it to get it back to them...of course arrived late but shipped it back yesterday so hopefully its okay...

That's why I just buy DVDs. What I don't want to keep, I sell.

It's well worth the cost to be able to have movie night and KNOW the DVD will be playable.

My problem with Netflix is they started this crap where they don't ship out dvds the same day they get them in. Like if they get a return on Friday, the account will say the next title is "Shipping Monday". If they shipped it friday, I'd have had it by monday. So it wastes 3 extra days when it happens on a Friday. I have been renting a lot more recently, and I read they start to do that on purpose if they think you are renting too much.

I've posted this before... but try :

GameznFlix.com

18.99/month
3 DVD's or games(PS2/XBOX/GameCube)

Keep as long as you want. So you can rent 2 dvd's and one game and play it till you finish, while swapping the DVD's out all the time.

Read more at the website.

I've had 0 problems with netflix or walmart dvds. I think maybe on, a not important movie that I could have cared less about might have messed up on one part, but other than that, the stuff that I really wanted to see, all worked fine.
