Netflix individual profile rollout brings up to five unique experiences per account

Indeed, about time. I don't think my dad knows that I can see he's been watching Weird Sex and Whore's Glory. And I worry about getting caught watching 90s cartoons. 😀

I haven't had a Netflix subscription since before they separated streaming from the dvd by mail program.

How has the streaming library improved since then?

(my reference would be free Amazon Prime Instant video)

If it's movies you primarily watch, then Netfilx has actually gotten worse (hard to believe I know).

Netflix is 99% TV.

Yeah, they dropped a lot of movies. I can see why to an extent, as a lot of people have probably seen them so aren't that keen about watching them again, or own them on DVD or something, but its still a bummer. I think they said they're aiming for more recent releases, which is good, but I miss a lot of the selection they used to have. That's what made me like their service so much, so many movies I hadn't heard about or might have vaguely remembered or something from years and years ago.

They've said basically they want to become the Internet HBO before HBO pulls their head out of their ass and focuses on Internet subscriptions instead of cable/satellite.

Yeah, I'd say on newer movies, Amazon seems to be on par or slightly ahead of Netflix IMO, with neither being great. My wife and I decided we'd start watching some of the older classics on Netflix, and we've been watching at least one per weekend and have enjoyed it. Give it a try.

The profiles seemed like what I have wanted for years from Netflix, but it has now managed to break the Netflix integration with Windows Media Center. If I select a show from within WMC Netflix, I then have to select which profile is watching it. Once I select one, I then get a popup stating 'Something's not quite right - try again'.

It never does start, so I then had to delete all the profiles save for my original one. I now get another popup error that the proxy server isn't responding, so I have to access Neflix via the browser instead of directly through WMC.

Crap. I've been wondering if that would happen (don't have profiles on my account yet). I wonder if it will work if I don't activate/configure any profiles?

Confirmed:

According to The Green Button forums, Netflix will only resume streaming over Media Center if you kill all profiles except for the main one
