I didn't see a thread on this new change, but if its a repost I apologize and pre-forgive myself.

According to the consumerist,Netflix has essentially raised their prices again by now allowing only 1 stream per account at a time. Anyone with multiple users on the account will not be able to watch a movie if someone else is already doing so, and will need an additional account (no price break) for simultaneous views.

Wtf happened to these guys...they've gone from being a great company to being completely asinine in a very short period. At this point, I thoroughly support their failure.

I'm really not upset about this or any of the other changes.

I only ever use one stream at a time, and it makes sense not to allow multiple users on one account (seriously exploitable).

It would be nice to see something like "Add 1 extra stream for $1/mo" or something for families that might see multiple stream use on a regular basis.

They are paying way more for content now. The sweet deal they have had for the last couple years is gone.

Oh no! I can't get away with letting a bunch of people use a service they aren't paying for!

Cause people with kids are totally scamming the system, ya? Besides, what's wrong with taking advantage of the system the way they had it set up? There was already a limit to the number of devices you could have authorized to play movies on, but it was nice to be able to let my kids watch their own shows on their pcs while I watched something on the tv, or vice versa. I cut my sub to only streaming after the dvd or streaming debacle...guess it is time to say good bye to netflix.

I don't have a problem with them enforcing this, but I wish there was some sort of price break to add a second stream.

Can't say I've ever had the need to have two streams going at once. But this will make using Netflix as one of my streaming content providers in order to cut the cord to cable a little harder down the road.

I always thought that you were only supposed to use one stream at a time anyway.

Ummm, I've been a member for years and you could NEVER stream multiple different movies from one account. At least I sure as shit couldnt.

And for all you saying Netflix sucks, my question to you is: Compared to what?

Its much better than Hulu and Amazon right now. The only better is torrents so whenever I hear people cry about Netflix I pretty much already know they are scum.

The agreement was always for one machine at a time IIRC. They just different enforce it till now.

My account info allows me to have 5 *authorized* machines to play different movies. Was only two at one time. But it specifically allows me to have 5 different machines play movies using my account info. Nothing to do with enforcing it as a few years ago I had to call customer support to *de-authorize* my old computer when I got a new one and netflix wouldn't play on it. They changed it so you can de-authorize on your account page yourself now.

They should have limited it by IP. That would cut out the scammers yet allow people in one household to enjoy multiple streams.

IP is unreliable. Not in that it can be spoofed for more streams as much as it can switch mid-stream.

There was a special phone number to get multiple streams. You ask for Joe, tell him you want 50 on the Patriots and double Netflix. Cake.

Actually that makes perfect sense. Did you really expect to be able to share 1 account between you and your 10 closest friends? You can't be serious.

Steam is the same way. The licensing says you can play it on 1 computer at a time. You can download and play video games on any computer, but you can only log in on one computer at a time. You can't just share 1 account between 10 people.
