Netflix Conspiracy ?

isekii

Lifer
I recently re-signed up for Netflix.

My Que consists of Man Show Season 1-4.

I received Season 1 last week and I got the discs in this order.
Season 1: Volume 1 Disc 2 and 3
1 day later
Season 1: Volume 1 Disc 1

Now today.

I receive

Season 1: Volume 2 Disc 2 and 3
I have yet to receive Volume 2 Disc 1

The previous Volume 1 I returned all at the same time.

Does this happen to anyone else that orders a series i.e Seinfeld, 24, etc ?

I think Netflix might be doing this purposely to keep the DVD exchanges to a minimum.
What do you all think ?

I don't like Netflix at all, at least compared to what it used to be. In the late 90's or so you could tell them when you shipped movies back and they would shipo the next ones, cross shipping worked out well and you could see a lot more like this.

Now they limit you much more and on top of that I've had a bad trial where lots of the DVD's came unreadable/cracked/etc. I think 2 of the 4 movies total had some issue.

This happened to me when I ordered lost. Received disk 1 and 3. Since I already had another dvd out had to watch disk 1 and wait for disk 2. Doubt there is much of a conspiracy though. Seems like they need a better system when renting a series, however.

A bad thing with netflix is if you start returning your movies to quickly they throttle you and make you wait many many weeks for popular and new stuff.

ive never had this problem, but then again, i havent done netflix for at least a year. i did, however, receive the occasional uncop, err, unplayable disc. i also received a cracked disc, but only once.

I've only ordered one series(the Beavis and Butthead one released last November) and it came in 1, 2, 3 order but they put a couple weeks between the 1st disk and the 2nd.

I never know what they are gonna send me. Last week they sent me #10 on my queue and this week #2. They are getting real flaky on me.

From my experience, if you keep a boxed set in order, w/ out making any changes to your queue, the disc's are shipped in order. It took a long time for S1 of Lost to be shipped to me as an example, but they were never shipped out of order for me. 😕 The only way I could think of having a boxed set shipped to me in a different order would be if the disc's were shipped from different facilities isekii.

Damn, wonder hey much they charged in 97?
Around $20/month, it was MUCH better back then without a doubt. I could cross ship every time.

Based on the anecdotal evidence presented here, it sounds like they're having growing pains, and having issues with scaling their processes.

It isn't just growing pains is them punishing people who take ulimited literally.

I received several repeat discs, rather than getting all the different ones specified in order, when all 4 seasons of futurama were going through my queue. Yes, there is something wrong with how they pick the discs out for TV series.

Haven't had a problem with my blockbuster online service in that department... half the time when they say there is a long wait on a series (ex. 24) they end up surprising me and sending me new discs of it...

I had no idea about the throttling you when you start returning DVDs too fast. I guess they don't want you to have an unlimited supply lol. I'm going to test this theory out and see how long it takes them to stop sending me movies after a day of receiving them back lol. I've pretty much rented all the new movies anyway. I cancel my membership once I watch all the new movies.

Series 1 discs are always the 1st added by members, and often times, the ONLY disc requested. If they are available, they might have to send them from someplave other than your closest proc fac... That's usually why they arrive out of order.

They just settled a class action lawsuit regarding the slowdowns. They shouldn't be doing that any more... Probably... The settlement was a lame "Upgrade your service to an additional disc for one month, or reinstate your account for 1 month if you have cancelled. Talk about a slap on the wrist. You also had to cancel the additional disc after the 1 month, or they'd charge you for the upgraded plan.

I've stuck with them for the last 2 years. I think they slowed me down because I'm a rapid return kind of guy. After the lawsuit, they also put a proc fac in my town, so I get an amazing turnaround time. And I still like their website better than any of the others...

They also force movies that are actually availible to long wait for people who turn around quickly. I just signed up an all of the movies on my friends list that say short wait, long wait, or very long wait say NOW for me. We live a few blocks from each other.

Yeah, it's in their Terms of Service. I just read it. It says people who rent less, will have greater priority over those who rent massive amounts of DVDS. This isn't verbatim but it's a short paraphrase of what it actually says. So yes, people who are new, obviously rent less right now thus the reason why most of the new movies are available to them.

I know, but it isn't right of them.

Well we can hope that the class action lawsuit has turned the tides for us consumers. I hope so. I'll put it to a test this month and February, that I can tell you for sure.

hahah the class action suit was a joke. They just bumped everyone up to the next level for one month and if you did not cancel it they charged you for it. yeah some punishment.
