Netflix coming to Wii/PS3?

Last month, there were two surveys sent out about using Netflix on the Wii and the PS3. Both mentioned requiring purchasing a disk for $9.99 and a subscription to Netflix. Now Gamasutra has spotted a Netflix job listing for a high-level "Engineering Leader" with "deep experience developing and testing media rich applications on current generation gaming consoles."

If the NetFlix disk was installable and then accessible from the XMB so that I do not have to play the disk shuffle, I would be on-board.

Yes it does. Plus, it's a really good selling point if you need to convince your non-gaming significant other why you need a gaming console in these tough economic times.

I really do hope the wii and PS3 get Netflix capability as well... The more people that can take advantage of Netflix streaming, the more likely the streaming library will grow.

I don't really understand why you need a disc....Netflix over Tivo works fine without one.

I'm guessing that's in lieu of being able to install the Netflix application on the PS3 or Wii. Especially for the Wii since storage space is limited. I'm not sure why it would be a problem with the PS3 outside of Sony not allowing it.

I'd love it on the PS3, if I don't have to keep the disk in there all the time. I could drop my XBL subscription which I never use anyway.

it would compete with Sony's own service, most likely...

Sony would be fools not to get on board with this, asap. I know 2 people who are torn over getting a ps3 or a blu-ray player with netflix streaming. This & a pricecut would push them into the ps3 for sure. This alone might do it too.
