Netflix as a gift

I got my dad a portable dvd player for christmas this year and was thinking about getting him a 1 or 2 month subscription to Nexflix as well.

I was looking on their website and its $8.99/m for one dvd at a time. Now would he be able to stream movies to the computer as well or is that a premium?

He had a blockbuster online subscription and liked it but my mom cancelled it because it was too expensive.

I do the same for my parents.
I got the $8.99 for them and since they really are not pc people I have to keep the que filled with movies I think they like.
So far no complaints.
I can also stream all I want at that monthly rate.

yes.

although i think it's pretty tacky to buy someone a gift they have to pay for to use...
if you were paying for the entire thing, fine, but otherwise, no.

I think he means he is paying it for them.
That is what I do , it comes to their house in my name, but they know its for them.
Really good gift for people that don't go out much, like my parents who are elderly and would otherwise never rent a movie.

um I bought my dad a 9" portable dvd player and wanted to throw in netflix as a gift. I am buying a 2 month subscription so if he likes it past the 2 months he can continue - if not, then he can cancel it.

You can also do that here if you like:

Netflix supports multiple users. I created a login on my Netflix account for my mother and gave her her own login username😛assword, then gave her 2 of the 8 out of my 8 at a time plan. She logs in, picks what she wants, and has her own queue.

I'd do that instead, if you're a user.

yep, that is what I was planning on doing. I was just curious about the streaming stuff.

I would have done this before but my most of my relatives still do not want to use their CC's online, even just to verify an account, so they cannot take advantage of the gift(unless Netflix changed their membership requirements since last year).
