ok, lets take a look at some offerings from newegg. since you mentioned 128gb, lets look at those Text. yeah, thats the same cost as the netbook itself.

By the time he fills up 64-128GB, larger ones will be available at less cost.

I will never understand how anyone can offer this type of "solution": the whole point of a small and light laptop is mobility[/]; an external drive is the antithetical to the reason for getting one in the first place.

orly? i never knew that something that could fit inside a pocket would be such a cumbersome burden. also, what about the external electrical chord etc for the netbook? what if you want a wireless mouse? you need to store those things somewhere too. i think most people use some kind of case, bag, backpack or whatever to carry around their laptops. those ~usually~ have pockets as well.

Umm...TubeTote said quite clearly that 16GB would be sufficient for his puposes.

That may be fine for you but for when your number one objective is mobility, every extra piece is more weight and someting else to keep track of. I personally don't carry anything but my notebook in a neoprene sleeve when I'm on the go. I keep an adapter in the car in case I have to recharge it unexpectedly but that's it -- no extra pieces of any kind carried with the laptop. The only time I use a mouse with my laptop is when I have to do presentations so I pack the presenter mouse with the projector. When I fly, the adapter is usually in my checked baggage.
