netbook apps

Got a new netbook ( ASUS 1005HAB eepc ) and loaded win7 ultimate on it . It's snappier than I thought it would be and should be fine for light duty around the house and on trips. Since I want to run it more efficiently, what other software should I load that is low on resources (media players, text editors etc)? I couldnt find a free software thread for this so I thoguht I would ask 🙂

10-4 on the Ubuntu idea... actually I plan to dual boot this guy with Linux Mint \ Win 7 as my wife has some windows only apps that she needs to use when she borrows the machine. are you running any hulu\netflix stuff on your eepc?

I don't watch much visual media, so I don't have much experience. Some of the hidef stuff may push the computer to the limit. I have an old model with a 900mhz Celeron, and Youtube is about as high as I can go using Flash. It'll play standard def video clips ok using VLC.

netbook apps depend on what you want to do with netbook? I have a netbook I use lite verison of Adobe like Premiere and Photoshop so I can work on photo on the go.

Speaking of Photoshop, Paint.NET's a nice program for Windows. I don't know how light it is, but it's worth a try if you do a lot of image manipulation.
