Wouldnt the netbook be better since battery life and weight are much better? I think if the HP had an internal DVD I would buy it.
 
I'd probably buy a netbook, but I'm expecting to find something that weighs more like 2 pounds and costs more like $200.

Of course, this does pass my netbook test aside from weight: 1280x720 or better and 10" or better (hard to type on the keyboards for 8.9 inchers).
 
The trouble with netbooks is it seems like if you spend like $100 more you can just get a full featured budget laptop with a better processor setup. $100 isn't nothing, but aside from being cute the netbook doesn't really offer a lot of advantages to me!
 
First of all, it's not the cuteness factor but the size that matters when it comes to notebooks. Especially, if you get it at a savings versus a premium. For $100 more people do not want a "budget" dumbbell. Oh yes, there is also that battery factor. Enough on that subject.
This HP is actually quite interesting at $600, not its official $750-$760. The battery life will most likely be improved because they are still working on it, according to some info I read. Pardon the lameness 😱. The spec in the OP indicates that it lacks Bluetooth, but it is not true. The PCMag review as well as others indicate that it is not only present, but also an integrated unit with the WiFi HP is using. In my opinion, it is a very unfortunate omission on HP's side because for me it would have been quite a significant turn off. But, I am glad it's there. The Blueray drive will probably be an arm-n-a-lag addition when it comes out in June. Will see. It is actually a valid accessory in this case, since the HD playback is fully supported and there's an HDMI out. All of it for $600 is a great deal for an ultra portable!
"Budget laptops" have nothing on it! Mostly because of their "lap unfriendliness" 🙂

Apparently you misunderstood the meaning of a netbook.
Netbooks are not for everyone and not meant to be the replacement for a full blown laptop.
Peolple who need netbooks are mostly road warriors or college students.
People who own netbooks usually have a desktop at home and just need something light to carry with him or her when they go and about.
 
OP, you might want to specify that there's most-likely an error on the part of HP regarding the Bluetooth. I almost left this thread as soon as I read this, but decided to checkout the reviews you have referenced. They are indicating that the wireless and bluetooth are an integrated chip (card). I know it is not official, but, apparently, has been verified.
 
Looks nice. A little big IMO. I'm using an s10 purchased for $270 and have a total of $335 into it. At $600+ I think you could find a better laptop, maybe not as light, but definitely better with maybe an additional pound.
 
No.. I would take the MSI Wind or an Asus over this any day. They can be had for around $300, and I see no reason to overpay an extra $300 for a dvd drive which I don't need, extra ram that I will not take advantage of, extra hd space which is not necessary(at least for me), and possibly a better CPU which is useless for gaming without a dedicated video card.

for $600 I can get a very good used laptop with a dedicated video card. The only problem is that it wont be small.

EDIT: Oops... Silly me it looks like it does have a video card. Well in that case I might have went for it, if I really needed it, but $600 is a tad too much. I'd rather them remove 2 gigs of ram, half of that HD, and the dvd drive, and sell me this baby for $400 or so. 😉
 
$600 is a good deal given its size. but if you don't mind the screen being two inches bigger you can buy similar laptops from just about anyone.

still, $600 is not $350, and my wind does all i need.
 
$600 is more than I'm willing to pay for a notebook. I was gonna buy the Acer netbook at Costco, but the cage dude told me they're outta stock. It's $350 sticker, $390 out the door.
