NetBEUI question

I am under the impression from the information I got here that NetBEUI is a good protocol to use (both for security and speed) for a small home network. The question is can I use this protocol between an XP computer and an ME computer? Thanks

fixed LINK.....I've been running a home network with XP and ME using the NetBEUI protocol, no problems, well over a year now. If it makes you feel safer by using NetBEUI, go for it.

Same here with all PCS running XP, no problems running BetBEUI on the LAN side and TCP for the net.

Thanks for fixing the link, didn?t even check it....😱

Security is always a concern but, not a huge one. In you opinion is it worth it? Is there really any increase in performance/security? I ran the "shields up" security check on my system and that website found here, found that my system is pretty secure. The check could not find any open ports, or any way to get into my computer. I guess what I am saying is what I am using now works and seems pretty secure, is it worth it?

I would like the remind every one that the "shields up" security check is a security check concerning ?Junk Coming In?.

There is also the issue of Windows and other programs sending out ?Good Stuff?.

Using internal sharing through NetBEUI can help in this matter.

i would definitely recommend using NETBEUI between your XP and ME boxes. security and efficiency are enhanced with it. NETBEUI needs to be pulled off the XP disk since it is not added to the OS by default.
