Israeli PM says Iran wants 'another Gaza' in Egypt

JERUSALEM -- Israel's prime minister on Wednesday said Iran wants to take advantage of the chaos in Egypt to create "another Gaza" there, run by Islamic fundamentalists.

Speaking before the Israeli parliament, Benjamin Netanyahu said he expects any new government in Egypt to honor its three-decade-long peace agreement with Israel.

But he warned that Islamic groups have already taken over by democratic means in Iran, Lebanon and Gaza.

"Is there freedom in Iran? Is there democracy in Gaza? Does Hezbollah promote human rights?" he asked. "They (Iranians) want an Egypt that goes back to the Middle Ages. They want Egypt to turn into another Gaza, that will be run by radical forces that are against everything we want, everything the democratic world stands for."

He did not say how Iran would do this...

It would have been more productive for Israel if Benjamin Netanyahu & his cronies help their brothers Egyptian people in this difficult hours. Instead he spouts rhetorics, lies, and assumptions trying to derail the democratic process that is unfolding in the larges Arab nation.

You lie much iGas??
You try to incite others with your lies?
You that desperate for people to accept what you say as the truth?

There is no hate speech found in that article at all!!

By hate speech are you referring to Netenyahu telling the truth while he addressed parliament?

None of the following is in any way hate speech -- But he warned that Islamic groups have already taken over by democratic means in Iran, Lebanon and Gaza.

He did not say how Iran would do this...he doesn`t need to say how Iran would do this. It is quite obvious even to those of us with half a brain...

Exactly, after years of hateful rhetoric including antisemitism soap operas spread by aljazeera, Egyptian people wont accept any help from Israel and always look at it with skepticism...

One of the most unfortunate things of the whole situation is that the population has been going towards a stricter Islamic enforcement while the laws and government have avoided going that route.

The people will eventually get what they ask for, i don't mind that at all but they will be surprised when they realise that the strict interpretations are not volountary anymore and that they will be stoned to death and hung for crimes they commit every day right now that aren't secular crimes under current law but are crimes under the interpretation of the Muslim Brotherhoods views.

Just so everyone gets this, the Muslim Brotherhood is quite like the Taliban in Afghanistan/Pakistan in their views, Egypt will become a shithole nation in no time with the Muslim Brotherhood as the leaders.

I wouldn't be surprised if they would remove all cultural heritage symbols first as they are viewed as blasphemic icons by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Also note that sanctions would be immediate and complete, no nation can possibly trade with a nation that has a recognised terrorist organisation as it's leadership.

Your title is both pathetically dishonest and blatantly trolling.

You can disagree with his statements if you'd like, but there's absolutely no "hate speech" in what you posted. Grow up.

-- on the part of the OP -- true enuff!!

Anti-Semitism has a meaning, overuse the word and it means nothing.

In this forum it's used so often and for so many things that it has no meaning anymore, the OP doesn't have a glimmer of anti-Semitism in his OP.

If critisising Ben N. for some of his policies and calling him a liar is anti-Semitic, then i must be a self hating Jew indeed.

Bulk Antisemitism found
Antisemitism not found.

I don't see where in my post indicated antisemitism?

And from your posts & the rest of the right wing nut job Zionists, it seems as if Jew is the special breed of Semitic people that allows to have a voice, and condemn everyone else for their believe and cultures specially the Semitic Persian & Semitic Arabs.

And, the fact is that a good portion of Jews aren't Semitic people since they are Russian descendants, and another good portion actually are American/European.

Semitic people

In linguistics and ethnology, Semitic (from the Biblical "Shem", Hebrew: שם‎, translated as "name", Arabic: ساميّ‎) was first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Akkadian, Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Ge'ez, Hebrew, Maltese, Phoenician, Tigre and Tigrinya among others.

Semitic peoples and their languages, in both modern and ancient historic times, have covered a broad area bridging Africa, Western Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. The earliest historic (written) evidences of them are found in the Fertile Crescent, an area encompassing the Akkadian, Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (modern Iraq), extending northwest into southern Asia Minor (modern Turkey) and the Levant (modern Syria and Lebanon along the eastern Mediterranean. Early traces of Semitic speakers are found, too, in South Arabian inscriptions in Yemen, Eritrea, Northern Ethiopia, and after this in Carthage (modern Tunisia) and later still, in Roman times, in Nabataean inscriptions from Petra (modern Jordan) south into Arabia.

The Israelis have nothing to fear from Egyptian Democracy. For years and years they have been speaking out against the repressive Egyptian government, demanding they relinquish power and bring freedom to the people. The Egyptian people, when they come to power, will remember this You always have the best wishes for folk who opposed the foot that was in your back for years and years. Israel was always on the side of light and justice. They will get the reward they earned and deserve.

Read my post above, anti-Semitism has a well known meaning in modern language.

Arguing over who is what or whatever you want to isn't going to change that meaning at all.

It's like arguing that gays are all people that are happy because that is the true meaning of the word "gay" and that no one should use the word to say they are homosexual because there are plenty of happy heterosexuals out there.

Regarding the Russian descendants, most of them are in fact Semitic.

Netanyahu is hoping that the new government in Egypt will support the peace accords but what will they do if Egypt breaks the contract?

Will Israel brand Egypt as an Islamist terrorist state if they reject the agreement and tell the US thanks, but no thanks? What if the US says that since the one side has backed out we can't really continue to pay you guys? Would the US play hardball and tell Egypt that you will take the money and behave yourselves?

To be honest, i fear more for the population of Egypt than for Israel if the only available opposition, the Muslim Brotherhood, becomes the rulers.

Democracy will be VERY short lived with them as rulers and most of the population will suffer greatly under Islamic opression.

If they go to war, it will be a mass death of Egyptians and Egypt will become what Iraq became after invading Kuwait.

Have you ever noticed that history has a thing for repetition?

The Netanyuhu problem is that Israel will get a new Egypt regardless if Israel likes it or not.

I very much doubt that a new Egypt will follow a Muslim brotherhood model or an Iranian one.

And it may become likely that Israel will start paying for its refusal to extend settlement freezes in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. As it is, Israel imports half of it natural gas from Egypt, as Israel, it the space of less that a year is seemingly losing both Egypt and Turkey as allies. And Jordan may now be wavering as new and younger Arab leaders
are demanding mainly the end to corruption within their own government.

And it may not be Netanyuhu hate speech but it sure is panic mongering.

Then modernize it is.

Modernize Jews shouldn't try to claim biblical land since it is thousands of years ago. And, they should modernize their thinking and embrace democracy and justice for all people instead of people that happens to be Judaism worshipers. And, stay the fuck out of their neighbor politics.

The Muslim Brotherhood is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the EU, Russia, the US and most of Asia so having them as leaders would make Egypt a terrorist state in the eyes of the world.

It's a consequence that the Palestinians quickly discovered after electing Hamas as their leaders and they have been suffering for it ever since.

YES!! Netenyahu has been known to lie, but not everything he says is a lie.
You know Israel being surrounded by Islamic fundies IMO will and has caused the Israeli Military to have to take steps that most of the rest of the world will see as a more aggressive military response than in the past!!

You take care !! JoS!!

It sounded like Zionists wanted to put in place another Israeli puppet in Egypt, or better yet American Jews would be a better replacement for Egypt govern body.

One thing I will says the people of Egypt decided they had had enough and are taking a stand.
I have been highly critical of the Muslim people for not taking a stand against groups that are running rough shod over the populace!
Lets hope things turn out different than what we are talking about!!

But as JOS has stated -- To be honest, i fear more for the population of Egypt than for Israel if the only available opposition, the Muslim Brotherhood, becomes the rulers.

Of course not everything he says is a lie, what he said in this case isn't a lie at all actually, it's a very real problem.

I HIGHLY doubt the world would stand idly by while a nation led by a world recognised terrorist organisation takes over Egypt and then starts to attack Israel, in fact, i know it won't.

The Egyptians are the real losers if the Muslim Brotherhood eventually comes to power. The saying "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind.
