Searching it for what?

If you mean you want to see what your subnet is, then in 2k/XP the command is "ipconfig". In 9x/ME, it's "winipcfg" at the run dialog, which opens a dialog box containing network information.
 
Well, considering that it does show who's on the network, I'd guess yes. 🙂

Of course it may only apply if they have Windows Networking functioning.

The "arp" command may allow you to see other computers in that case, but depends on having actually sent or received packets with the other machines.
