I installed Nero 8 Ultra on my computer and it wasn't working for me. Then I uninstalled it and now all the pictures and videos don't open in the right program. They're looking for nero programs. How do I fix this?

Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options

In the Folder Options window, select the "File Types" tab. You can look for the files you want, and then use the 'change' button to select which program you want that particular file type to open with...

You may also be able to do a System Restore and undo the changes system-wide that way. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Nevar allow new proggies to assume file associations before trying 'em out at least.

Manually choosing via folder options would be laborious so I would tend to prefer some sort of restore or alternately perhaps Nero could be reinstalled then the file associations unselected from its viewer components?

Or alternatively, configure the file formats from the proggies that you do now want to open them (if not Windows defaults).

I don't know how to change everything at once. I always just use, right click - open with - and check "Always use..."

I always do what Auric just said, and never let a new program change my file associations, so when I want to change something back it's always just one or two file types.

It doesn't do that automatically.

It asks during installation if you want to associate the "checked" file types with Nero.

You have an option to "deselect all".

It is a very aggressive way the Nero installer does it, but that's just the way it works.

Again, remember to "deselect all" next time. And even "Nero" will work better this way.

(I only have Nero 6 Ultra, but I guess the nero 8 installers work in a similar fashion).
