I need to get my disc out in a matter of minutes, so I'm posting this in an active area of the forums. Sorry if I offend the moderators...

I just burned 4,900 files to a DVD+R using Nero Burning ROM. It burned quickly, but I stepped out of the room just before it finished. When I came back, the Disc Burning dialog had disappeared completely. It was as if Nero had never been opened. I browsed to the drive and confirmed that the files were there, but the disc identification label was never read. I tried to burn a second session with Windows CD Burning and it told me that the drive was still in use.

Nero has locked it and left it that way. I can't restart my computer because it would interrupt an FTP transfer (someone is downloading the same 4,900 files from my hard drive). I can't find any processes in the Task Manager related to Nero. I've had problems with Nero leaving the drive locked before on many different systems, so I know that it's just bad programming. I still don't know why Nero closed itself after completion.

How can I get my disc to eject without restarting the computer?

Why would anyone want 4900 files from your computer? Unless it's music or something in which case they're going to take for-fvcking-ever. :p

What kind of connection do you have to share 4.7GB of files w/ one person... and what kind of files that are an avg of <1MB each. Must be a photo CD w/ a bunch of LowRes jpgs?

another option, try opening case and unplug the power to the burner and plug it back in. Worst case--Might crash yours system but it shouldn't hurt the hardware. Although I would just reboot myself. When it comes back up, burn 2 discs, overnight the second one to the person who needs it and everyone should be happy.

If it crashes, the downloader's queues are gone and he won't be able to resume until he gets back from work. And he expects them to be complete by then :/

Anyway, I'm going to risk a crash and force-eject. Nero definitely glitched, because I told it to verify data and it definitely didn't do it.
