Nero thinks it is empty when I have a CD-R in there!?

Can DVD Burners also burn CD-Rs?
If so, why does Nero think it is empty when a CD-R is inserted?

I believe the majority at least do,as most are combo drives of 1 sort or the other, for instance, I have the Plextor px-712sa,( sata), and it burns dvd+ and-r's, as well as dvdr/w, and cdr/rw's.

As to the empty cd-r thing, if you are using Nero Start Smart, you need to select dvd in the top right hand corner, or vica versa for a cd.

I selected CD, since I had a CD-R in the drive.
Do, I select DVD, and burn to a CD-R anyway?

I had this problem when a flash went wrong with one of my drives.

If another program doesn't allow you to burn, your drive may be dying or maybe try flashing with upgraded firmware?

I have updated all firmware, drivers, and software.
I even have the latest greatest ASPI driver thingy.

I had the same issue with Nero 6, i got rid of it and purchased Roxio Media Creator 7..This works like a dream..
