When burning a data cd, i notice my full name files or directories get cut off. I get a warning message about JOILET files being renamed to be compatible with the file system.
Is there a way to fix this? I hate having my mp3's and stuff get truncated.

Joliet has a "maximum" of 64 characters per filename. Nero actually enforces that limit while some other burning programs may have higher limits (e.g. CDRWIN).

So to burn my mp3s to a cd, nero isnt the choice, or I have to rename the files for nero (shrug)?

The Joliet spec (Joliet is the name of the standard used to hold long file names on a CD), as posted before is limited to 64 characters per filename.

You'll just have to make your filenames smaller before you burn.

CDRWin will allow you to burn CDs with filenames up to 127 characters, however this violates the Joliet standard. Some apps or devices may do strange things when trying to read the CD, or may even fail to read the CD entirely, this is the main reason Nero makes the CD stay in spec.

This also is an eyesore when I back up key files on my computer (ie. my favorites dir).
It always complains that the LINKS or TITLES to the links are too long =(
