I havent used 7 or 8 in either one.
I have both Roxio Platinum 6 and Nero Ultra 6 on my system. Roxio is a little easier for me to use but I still need Nero for a couple of advanced features.

Don't care about earlier versions of either one...don't care about "others"... only 2 choices.

I would agree with that. Nero is pretty weak from image ripping. Overall Nero is solid though.

AGAIN, please stay on topic... Nero 7 or Roxio 8. I don't care about past versions or alternate software packages.

LOL, you must be a lot of fun to go out to eat with. Try something new. You may like it! :p

And you never said what you needed it for. If your primary goal is to compile DVD movies or something you will be really disappointed with both options.

Don't they both offer free trials? They both do the same thing in general so this will all come down to personal taste. You'd get the same results starting a ATI vs. Nvidia thread.

Neither. Yes, that is a valid answer.

I recommend Nero 6., but I suppose if you put a gun to my head, I'd go with Nero 7.

i always have problems with nero, like, suddenly, some things dont work, i dont understand it. i think roxio is a lot easier to use, especially for my computer illiterate dad. roxio is a lot easier for him.

i use both

Roxio to burn DVDs
Nero to burn CDs because roxio for whatever reason randomizes the track list when it burns audio and mp3 cds
