Nero not detecting correct maximum write speed

Help!

I pulled out my Liteon 32x burner and put in a 52x, Nero sees the new burner for what it is but it won't let me set the maximum speed up.

I tried reinstalling Nero but it did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm....did you uninstall nero first?

How about this...have old drive connected while doing this.....
Then reboot without any drives attached
Then reboot with the new drive attached....then install the Nero that came with the new drive...if you don't use the software that came with the new drive then this could be the problem....Nero OEM copies are becoming more drive speicific....even to the point of being specific to a particular speed and brand.

If that fails, try swapping the slave and master around (straw clutching suggestion).

Any CD on the drive? Nero will also report the maximum burn speed according to the particular CD you have in the drive!

Yup, that's it. I also have a 52x burner, and Nero only lets me burn at 32x or 40x maximum depending on what type of media I put in. Unfortunately, I've never seen 52x rated media around (only 48x).

This is very eviden with CD-RW. The drive is able to rewrite at 24x, but if I insert a 4x rated RW disc, Nero will only let me burn it at 4x max.

Anyway, at 40x you burn a full disc in 2.5 minutes... what's the rush? 😉
