Nero Linux 3 (linux version of Nero Burning Rom 7) for $25 downloaded at Nero.com

A lot of people including myself feel that Nero Ultra 7 is severely bloated. Most people only care for the Burning Rom application.

Nero just came out with a Linux version of the Burning Rom 7. You can download a trial version that'll work fully for 7 days.

http://www.nero.com/enu/NeroLINUX_Info_Page.html

There's a Debian package and an RPM package, for both x86 and x86-64 platforms. So you can use a wide variety of distros like Fedora, OpenSUSE, Debian, Ubuntu, Mandriva. I've used it on the Sidux live distro and it works very well.

If you're satisfied and want to get a serial number, it's $25. I believe this is a good bargain considering the most recent Nero 7 deal at Fry's was for $70 - $50 MIR = $20 AR. But for Fry's you have to pay sales tax so that came out to about $25, and then there's the rebate hassle. Whereas here it's just straight $25, downloaded from their website, with no rebate hassle.

Another advantage of this is that you can carry the Debian or RPM package on your USB flash key and use it as a portable app with your favorite live distro, whereas for the Nero Ultra 7 Windows version, it's very hard to come up with a portable version. Supposedly, there's a BartPE plugin for it, but at least for myself, when I tried it with the latest 7.9.6.0, I got a BSOD on booting up BartPE. (It could be a problem with Sherpya's XPE plugin. I don't know. But I couldn't get it to work.)

I just installed this on ubuntu. It looks good, but....$25? Cost more then the damn OS. If it was free it would be hot

Although Ver. 7 IS bloated, I kinda like the idea of ONE program to do lots of things (Nero that is, everything else that does more things usually S*CKS)

Anyway, I have just RECENTLY shifted over to Linux from Winblows, so I contacted Nero, and according to them, if you already have the Nero 7 license (as I do) it is good on teh Linux version..
