i tried to use my laptop to burn a cd. i did a "copy entire disc" and saved the image to C:\. but i have no idea how to burn it back to cd.

i double click on the .nrg file, Nero pops up.

image file = c:\image.nrg
Destination drive = Image recorder (cd-r/rw)

but when i press NEXT, it asks me to save image file?!

How do i burn the contents of the image onto the cd?

thx

edit:
I've never used NERO to burn an image before

Edit2:
It's Nero Express 5.5 that came bundled with a cd burner, but now i'm using it with my dell laptop

Dude... image recorder is what you use to create .nrg files... Chnage that in the drop-down on the main screen to your CD burner.

have you tried "Disc image or saved project" option? then use the drop list to find what image you want to burn

Launch Nero. Click on the "Recorder" menu. Click "Choose Recorder". Click on your burner, and then click OK. Done.

d:\ drive isnt an option

The only thing Nero has listed is:
image recorder (cd-r/rw)

How do i get my d:\ drive to be recognized in Nero? (winxp sees the d:\ drive.)

Also are you using an OEM version of Nero? I have heard that some OEM versions only work with the drives they ship with... not sure on this though

If it's not recognizing your drive, then either there is a problem with ATAPI recognizing your drive (does windows recognize it as burnable? can it actually complete a burn operation?), or the version of Nero you have has been locked to a specific drive model(s).

If you put a blank CD in the drive, and are running XP, a box should pop up, asking if you'd like to open the writeable CD. You should also be able to go to My Computer, open that drive, and then just drop files onto it. If you're not able to do that, then there's something deeper wrong.
