Nero - Disabling Disc-At-Once

Hey...
I have the following problem...

I have Pioneer DVR-103 connected through IDE-USB box....
My DVD-R does not support DAO mode and if I try to burn it like that it gives me an error....

In Nero though on "Burn" screen "Disc-At-Once" is grayed out and it cannot be changed....
Does anybody have any idea how I can work around this???

All the help is greatly appreciated....

try updating nero to the latest version... and if that doesn't help probably rip an email off the the manufacturer and aHead...

what do you mean?

and btw...I already tried 3 different versions of Nero including the latest one....

I just tried connecting it directly through IDE and it worked perfectly fine....

I dunno what the hell is the problem...🙁

Any ideas???

So when I do IDE->USB doesn't work and IDE works fine...

what usb box do you have?
i am assuming usb 2.0 right?
and you have everything set up so it runs a 2.0 speeds on your computer?

This is a USB 2.0 external isn't it?

USB 1.1 does NOT have enough bandwidth to support a DVD burner, not even at 1x speed.

Five bucks says you found the problem. 😛

If it is a USB2 enclosure, make sure you've got it plugged into a USB2 port on your machine. 😛

And why the hell not just leave it internal?

it's a USB 1.1

it used to work though....if I never had it working I wouldn't even bother...but it used to work...
now it's starts working fine but when it does Lead-In and right before it does track record it gives me "SCSI/IDE command error"...

the reason why I have it external is because I have zip disk, cd-rw, dvd-rom inside....
I would put dvd-rom outside but it's SCSI....

Under which operating system is this happening? Win2K? WinXP?

I noticed that the Q815021 critical update caused the failure of CD writing on my USB-connected drive using Nero 5.5.10.28. The failures weren't obvious at first. The burn would usually appear to go well, though sometimes the burn itself would fail, but portions of the CDs were not readable and I couldn't get verification to succeed. I uninstalled Q815021, and the problems went away. Reinstalled Q815021, and the problems came back. Confirmed with USB-connected CD writers on two different systems now. I started a thread about the problem with the initial USB-connected drive here. Do you suppose there's a connection between our problems?

It's possible that Microsoft may have fixed something in the installation routine, or it's possible that Nero gets fixed following installation of the patch when you uninstall and reinstall the Nero software. My USB 2 Predator works okay on a USB 1.1 port now.

Good luck!

stan...I don't want to use Disc-At-Once and in DVD (UDF/ISO) there is no multisession tab at all....
