There are two rebates, a $50 one and a $20 one.

The $20 one requires previous ownership of one of the following:
  • Adobe Premier Elements
    Corel Ulead Video Studio or Video Studio Plus
    Cyberlink Power Director
    Pinnacle Studio, Studio Plus, or Studio Ultimate
    Roxio Easy Media Creator
    Sony Vegas Movie Studio
    Nero 5 and later

Note that Nero cannot be an online purchase or OEM edition.

I have heard so many people complaining about Nero - it being a bloated and intrusive resource hog. Really, on balance, how true are these complaints? Basically, I want to be able to burn data, music, and SD/HD video and movies to CDs and DVDs and play them. I am vacillating between Nero and collection of free programs such as Imgburn, etc. I don't want any other system tool such as backup (I have Acronis for that). Can the latter be not installed?
