Nero 5 question.

Question about Nero 5.5. I'd like to transfer some retail CD music to cdr. I was under the impression that Nero allows me to record the .cda files to my new cdr as mp3 files, but I can't figure out how to do this. Is it possible, or did I misunderstand Nero's abilities?

It appears that I first nee to rip the .cda files to mp3. Even that is a problem, I can choose the cda files to convert, but when I click the "open" button I get an error message that the files can't be opened. Whart am I doing wrong?

why dont you just do a direct copy? the cda format doesnt seem to be supported by the wave editor thing that came with 5.5. though, if you want mp3s, i would suggest EAC (exactaudiocopy.de i think) to rip to wav, then use LAME to rip to mp3, personally, i use razor lame, which is a gui for lame so you dont have to know lots of command line operations and such. it can do VBR (i recommend), or CBR and ABR.

but, if i am wrong, and nero actually can do this stuff, please let me know how.

The mp3 condec that comes with nero is shareware, you can only use 30 times afterwards you have to buy a new
plugin... however to create a CD from mp3 I think there isn't any limit.

You could save the tracks to wav files and then burn those into the new CD. Or follow Pyromidion advice and
try some other programs!
