Nerf Bars - Input Desired!

Hi, I was curious if anyone here has had experience with nerf bars (eg - example 1 or example 2 ). Specifically round or oval any preference for one or the other? I want to replace the OEM running boards on my 07 Avalanche with some flat black nerf bars.

The installation looks easy enough so I may just do it myself, anyone put some on themselves?

ive installed a few hundred of them at my friends shop. some of the kits have very weak bracketing/ bolts, make sure to use good parts, regardless of whether their included stuff is crap. i dont have a preference to oval or rounded tho.

he drives a company car...even as an M3 shows he is highly conservative. He also travels the world by his choice (in reality his company forces him too even during holiday season lolz)

Nerf bars can be anything you want.

Most of the time they always look good. Most of the time if you need them they will fail if you went 'looks'.

I'm not sure what you mean by if I need them they will fail? You mean just by coincidence?

I want them for both looks and functionality, the current running boards are OK, function fine, but I would like the appearance of the metal tubes.

Are you trying to equate nerf bars to sliders and then suggesting that nerf bars make lousy sliders? Nerf bars are nerf bars and sliders are sliders. One can get sliders that also function as nerf bars but I am under the impression that nerf bars are called "nerf" precisely because they aren't supposed to be sliders.

Most use the term nerf bars when they are first looking for them and/or just got a truck when in fact they are looking for the other.

You call your clips, magazines I am sure.

i think he meant to say if you go for the looks without making sure its a solid mounted functional version, they will fail. and hes right, some of the kits have pathetic hardware that would pop off the first time you stepped up on it. also, if not installed well the good hardware can just pop out of the mounting holes. not sure why there is so much argument in this, not really necessary at all. i like the looks of the bars, and it would have made it easier for my kids to get in and out of my truck when they were younger. theres lots of reasons to have them.
