I use vi so much that I often find myself using the commands on other applications.. today I discovered that if you type '/' it brings up the find menu.. also clicking anywhere removes the find menu... such a tiny thing but so neat.

This has prob been there forever but..

Seriously? Man that's funny. I know for a fact that it wouldn't disappear automatically before, that was always a pain in my ass.

edit: just tried this on an older box and it doesn't exist, think this is new.

Wow thanks for the tip. I've always used CTRL-F, but then you have to close it, which is annoying. I'll be using this from now on.

every once in a while when I try to type an apostrophe in Gmail it brings up the Quick Find and will not allow me to type an apostrophe. So annoying...

I have the same problem in the quick reply on AT occasionally.

Are you like those CSI people that type like they are writing a term paper in order to zoom in on and enhance a pixelated face in a video or picture?

Heh yea good find... I could never really get in to vi/vim though... started with Emacs and stayed there, even though my friends who use vim swear by it for increased efficiency...

You can press Esc to close the find menu after using ctrl-f. No need to use the mouse.

My FF searches whenever I type anything into a non-input place (meaning, anywhere on the page but text boxes and such). Hitting Esc makes it disappear.
