been married 8 1/2 years and still game, but not hardcore, mostly all fps and maybe some racing/sports when at a friends on a console.

when my wife and i were first dating, we did however have the old sony playstations with that link cable and would play doom together, or any other "multiplayer" game...she was and still is cool with it. when i started to use pc as gaming she didn't switch with me. no probs

Who you calling a noob....noob? :D

Actually, I'm kinda a "re-noob" I used to pay CS constantly about 5-6 years ago when half-life was new. I've just recently got into CS:S, and unfortunately find myself getting owned by the kiddies more than I'd like.

As with everything else, it all depends on the person.

It's not the fact that you are a "gamer", it's whether or not you go outside.

Wait. Since when did nerd = gamer? I've always considered nerd to describe someone who was smart and possibly socially inept. Playing games has nothing to do with being smart... just possibly the socially inept part.

True, ya I didn't even pick up on that...

If you are a nerd, you probably won't get chicks.

But if you are a gamer geek, you might.

i'm with Jihad. if you simply quit, especially since you didn't know anyone on the server, no one would have even known you left

This is true. I'm confident and self-actualized enough to know this - I'm not posting to have my self esteem reinforced or allow myself to be affected by what was said. I suppose I'm more curious about the general perception of gamers and if many people actually let gaming interfere with having a healthy social life outside of online contacts (which does have its own benefits)

A guy in my CS clan had probably one of the hottest girls I've seen in awhile, I was like "wtf, you play for 5 hours a night and sleep with her in the off time...?"

I think people will interact with others online and come to a point where they only need that particular interaction, and forego "regular" social interaction.

But most people have self control and can stop and look at what they do and say, "this is just entertainment", or "this is pointless", and continue to game AND be social.

I excuse myself from girls in favor of money.
