Is it fair to say that a Nerd or Geek could be positive, while Dork is just bad?

i think geek has taken a turn and actually can be something positive now. i think nerd, and most definitely dork, are still negative terms.

Do you let labels define you?

If so, that's pretty sad.

You are who you are. I'm sure you have interests in various different areas. If you have a great social life, very active, yet worked with computers. Would you consider yourself a geek? or a nerd? or a dork?

I have heard them all and they don't really bother me. I have even been slammed because of my physical appearance, and that still does not bother me. I am proud of both my knowledge and heavily German heritage and just let the attempted "insults" roll right off me.

My fav right now is to assume that everyone that makes fun of my facial hair is just jealous...

That's what all ugly people say.

You guys have it backwards...

Nerd is good: "Wow, Steve got an A in Organic Chemistry. I wish I were a nerd."

Dork is neutral: "You're such a dork for still eating Captain Crunch."

Geek is derogatory: "What a hopeless geek."

I use geek/nerd pretty much interchangeably. Dork is still a negative in my book, but geek/nerd just means really obsessed or "knowledgeable" if you want to make it overly positive. It could be negative if you're a geek of something not so awesome. Like a WoW geek is negative in my book, but a guitar geek (not guitar HERO) will probably be able to impress a lot of people so would be a positive. It's all relative really.
