I have bellsouth dsl service and i was playing with neotrace , i was pinging a whole bunch of addresses for the hell of it and i found that one my nodes wasnt giving me any pings. It said 0 ms and that it had lost 99% of all my packets i really dont know that means. But I have had some trouble with disconnections and problems with my isp lately, could this be the cause. I would try to call Bellsouth but they have some crappy tech support. When i call half of the support team does not even know what USB is.

Tell me about it! , I am having the same problem with Cox/RoadRunner cable. When I tell the phone support people that after six hops the ping goes throught the roof they ask me, 1. Have you restarted your computer, 2. Did you turn off your cable modem for thirty seconds then turn it back on. :|

I have about eighteen hops between me and AnandTech or AGN's Forums, up to #6 the pings are in the 'teens maybe as high as 30ms, then, starting at #7 which is still a RoadRunner server the ping shoots up to over 200ms and higher going up to 400ms by the time it gets to AGN or AnandTech. :|

I need some kind of access to someone in cox or RR who knows what I am talking about :(

Since i posted this article i have 14 hops to forums.anandtech.com and nodes 3 and up have pings now of 200-300ms wen they used to have
20-30ms. Right after I posted this article my internet service was down for about 2 hours. If you have Bellsouth service in South Florida please post and tell me if this happens to you.
