I just got a Car 2 months ago and I have some extra money and was wondering what I should do to my car next. The car is a Black 2002 Dodge Neon R/T.

I am going to get a Blue Neon Underbody Kit or a Cold Air Intake. Which one do you think I should get?

If I remember correctly (and I always get argued with on this), it is illegal to have blue lights in your car of any kind. Blue lights are reserved specifically for law enforcement vehicles. With that in mind, I would get the CAI.

I read somewhere that if you have the bulb showing that it is illegal but if the bulb dosn't show that it is legal. I'm not sure if that is true so I wrote to the BMV of my state. Lets assume the lights are legal for now.

I have several tickets on my record for "illegal use of colored lighting" due to neon license plate frames and underbody neon kits.

Even sitting in parking lots, the cops will piss all over you...but as long as you're not moving, they really can't do much.

Pain in the butt to install so it looks good, but when you go underbody you do feel pretty cool....though at this , somewhat more mature , stage in my life, i would not even hesitatate to go for the intake on my car.

edit: grammar

<< Hello everyone thanks for all your info, I just got the official law from the BMV. I will retype it exactyly the way my email came. I will keep a copy of this email in my car once I get them on. Wich now will be soon. I quote... >>

<< "The Ohio Revised Code section 4513.17 , states " Any motor vehicle may be equipped with lights on each side which shall emit a white or amber without glare. >>

<< This does approve any other color. >>

<< Also, Ohio Revised Code section 4513.17 states " no vehicle shal be equipped with flashing lights except for turn signals nor have any red, white, or blue ocsillating lights >>

<< (end quoting from Lieutenant Brian T. Charles, Criminal Patrol Coordinator) >>

<< So the actual law says you can use whatever damn color you want and it is completely legal, as long as there is no glare wich I'm sure is why the people with lights that are exposed are having problems. It also says no strobes wich is pretty obvious, I have no desire to use them anyway. And my own observatin on what this says is for fog lights only white and amber can be used. >>

I found this on Street Glows Message board page and it says that they are legal. Since I emailed BMV I will wait for my response from them since ohio is a messed up state and I could get a different answer, and if they say that it is legal I will request that I have a hard copy mailed to me saying that they are legal so I can had that paper to the cop that pulls me over.

Um legality depends on the state - don't just say "It's illegal" without knowing what state this guy lives in. It's legal in some parts of TX - the bulb just can't be showing or else the cops will pull you over

I know that but one of his previous sources stated that neons were legal all over and that was to demonstrate that wasn't true. His profile isn't visible so I didn't know where he was from.

Mota - well before you get the lights (if you do) go down to the place where you get your car inspected at (Jiffy Lube or whatever) - they should be able to give you a straight answer if its legal in your county/city/state.

I plan on trying to call the Sheriff's Office tomarrow or Monday and see. I also wrote to my Township P.D. to see what they say but they are idiots. And I am still waiting on a response from the BMV.
