I am planning on getting a neon light for the new computer I just built, and I had a few questions.

First off, when the light(like one I am looking at from streetglow) says it is 10", does that mean the whole unit is 10" long, or the clear tube(as in the unit minus the ends) is 10" long. I assume its the whole unit is 10", but just want to check.

Second, my case is a small box(13x8x3.75") made out of clear acrylic. How well would a light show up since the entier box is transparent. Also, in the front of my box I have an lcd display, will the light interfear with me seeing the lcd?

Thanks
Garrett

Personally I'd recommend a cold cathode over a neon. CCs are thinner, lighter, easier to mount, and most importantly, brighter. They're slightly more expensive, but I think they're worth it.

The slightly more expensive is what kills me. At streetglow.com, I can get a 10" neon for 20 shipped. I dont think I could get a cold cathode that cheap.

I would try asking on:

gideontech
virtual hideout
bit-tech

They are more geared toward modding. Having said that, I would definitely go with a cold cathode. Try tweakbox.com. Also, there is a thread on gideon or virtual (i forget which) where a guy is selling cold cathodes out of his home for $22 shipped. Ill try and hunt the thread down. Tons of satisfied customers...
