I <heart> you

I bought the first 7 discs when they first came out and wanted the box set instead. Now I can sell these on eBay for $10 each :(

It'll end up being cheaper than buying the last disc on it's own if I can sell them.

That's a damn good price. Let's see... I paid an average of $25 for each disc, and there were 8 of them. You do the math.

DaveSimmons pointed this out to me..

this is for htose of you that already have the collection (like myself.. fricken so expensive to buy DVDs haha ) but anyway.. yea.. this will save u a lot of trouble of trying to eBay all ur existing DVDs to get the box =b www.advfilms.com also points to this place.

http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/4fXY5GiO7A0nXHGlVu/browse/item/56782/4/0/0

They also have one w/out the DVD and DVD2 for only 14 bucks. I dont' know shipping. I haven't bought this yet. There's also the aluminum box w/ DVD 1, but that's 74 bucks. Anyway.. I didn't find this. All credit goes to DaveSimmons

Too bad it isn't Lain for that sort of per-disk price.

NGE is too much like X-Files -- both give you the impression that there is some sort of secret mystical concept behind the series, whereas in actuality, they are just making it up as they go along.

WHAAAAAT?!?!?!?
I disagree. Hideaki Anno is Japan's answer to J. Michael Straczynski. There's no way you can just ad-lib this stuff.

Agreed Akira, it was impossible to make that stuff on the fly, yet I still disagree with the series ending... both of them ;).

Actually, NGE is a mix of religion and social problems.
The creators took the most popular Japanese social disorders and problems for the youth at that time, (Depression, alienation, masturbation, not knowing the oposite sex, low self esteem, dealing with popularity, to name a few) and threw it all together with some mechs. EoE is HIGHLY religious, as everything that happens is all laid out if you read up on multiple religions...

The last tape of the TV series was supposed to be the creators attempt at deep self observation and to show the youth that no matter what the problems with a little inner reflection and realization you can over come all obstacles. The Japanese public however, wanted a much more grandure production for the end... so they complained to the point where Gainax made him RE-do the end. Thus EoE (End of Evangelion) was born. He made it more grand, the big OOHHs and AAHHHs.. then just for fun and "revenge" killed everyone ;-)
Now that right there spell BALLS :p

(Quick bit o knowledge. In the Japanese society you are raised to be more worried about school that most kids do not even date until after they are adults. With the saturation of our western cultures, more and more teenagers suddenly feel the influance to date, yet know nothing of how or what to do. They do not have very social lives until thier late 20s. Dating magazines are very popular (as seen in most dating scenes in anime) and thats the reason why they are so abundantly shown. MOST of Masakazu Katsura's managas (DNA^2, VGA, I's) revolve around this... Just a quick lesson for ya )
