Neon car kits at Walmart B&M - YMMV

Yesterday when I was at walmart I saw some car neon kits. They had a 10" blue neon for $10 and 15" for $15. They also had EL cable for $17 but I don't know how long it was and it was purple. I decided not to get any b/c I don't have a window in my case, but it seems like a pretty good price. All you have to do is mod it with a molex and you're set. How are neons compared to CCFL? YMMV, could be local I don't know - Moscow, ID

neon lights will generate more heat in a pc case that a cold cathode. So i won't suggest getting these for a kit.

those are normal walmart prices for the neons. i strongly adviise you to not buy them!

they have burned out on me so many times, i have burned out 2 in computers in the lengthe of 4 months, and a entire set of 7 of them went one after another in a car. they are crappy and have huge plastic tubes around them, get a small cold cathode, you will be so much happier, I am.

There is also a warning on these " Do Not Use Near Computers. " they have a RF signal that could interfer with the computer.

but I do believe the LED lights they have would work.

Was also looking at useing HotWire. A flexible thin wire that lights up. Cool to the touch. but have to do a little more Research on it
