so ya, I want to replace the dieing fan on my Neo2 Platinum. It is starting to make a whining
noise so I figure it is gong to die.

If anyone could suggestion a good HSF or even a goodpassive heatsink, as long as it will
fit under an AGP card.

As far as replacing the stock fan on the K8N Neo2 PE goes with a passive unit that will fit under the AGP card I think you are screwed. Ever wonder why that stock NB fan spins so fast (about 6,000 RPM)? The logical answer is that due to the low profile of the NB heatsink the the fan has to spin that fast to cool the NB. Nvidia NBs' tend to run hot.

So since that there is minimal clearance between the NB fan and the bottom of the AGP card anyway, one has to believe that a passive unit that will cool the NB does not exist (except in our wildest dreams). I wish I there was a passive unit too, as the NB fan spinning at 6,000 RPM gets annoying sometimes.

I would just call MSI and talk to someone in Tech Support. If you explain the NB fan situation and request a replacement I'm pretty sure that they will send you one no charge (as long as it is a Retail board and is still under warranty).

Bought the board off someone else so I have no idea how old it is.

I was told one of These would work if I bent the fins a little.
I am using a vf700 cu so that gives me a little more clearance over the stock ATI cooler.

Otherwise, I guess I will get a Vantec Iceberg. I just remembered that the fan speed does not reall matter,
as I use the MSI Core Center to slow the fan down.

Yeah, maybe that could work, that ZM-NB47J is roughly 1.875" (1 7/8") tall. I looked into the Vantec Icegerg NB unit, but shined-it when I realized that it is a two-wire fan (no speed sensing rotor) so you cannot monitor the NB fan speed. Helps you know when your NB fan is dying (other than the odd noises they make).

Good luck.

My NB fan on my Neo2 plat pretended to die about 6 months ago. I used compressed air and sprayed it out and flicked it a bit and it has worked fine ever since, go figure...
