Neo (Xbox Challenge?)

Another thread from ExtremeDC says that the Neo Project now plans to delete any stats accounts that are inactive for 30 days.

I tend to bounce from project to project, but appently there will be nothing left for me to go back to a month from now. I don't think I would ever go back to Neo anyway at this point.

[Edit]: Come to think of it these 30 day deletions would have dire consequences for groups like TART and TACO.
 
i could put a point or two into tart.... er.. someone could every once in a while.. i actually like the idea.

And now that the XBox thing is over, we get hit with something else. The way they just can't seem to make up their mind on what they're going to do makes me want to quit the project entirely and concentrate on other things. :disgust:

Please, can the Neo people fix their problems and just leave things the fvck alone? Ok, maybe I'm too pissed about it, but this just seems to keep getting worse, not better. 🙁
 
I read that post on the Neo forum but now it seems to be gone😕

Maybe he realized how stupid it would be - or maybe he thought by deleting "old" accts he'd keep his server load down. who knows

Apparently someone put a rather nasty reply in the thread and it was removed. Does that mean they will not be taking inactive accounts out after 30 days...I dunno, but this project seems to be shooting itself in the foot at every turn.

What would make them think this is still a good idea??????? Do they hate MS THAT MUCH?!?

We talked about this as well, we will freeze the stats for RSA-576 as of Monday January 13th, 2003, and start new ones as we are switching algorithms in 1.0.705. At that exact date we will discontinue packet support from anthing less than 1.0.705.

We will be releasing the Xbox Challenge Client sometime tonight, and the 1.0.705 RSA Client Sunday January 11th, 2003.

Its a long time needed freeze. There are beta points in there as well.

hope they don't give up DC all together....

There are A LOT of quality projects available.... my suggestion is do your homework before committing.

Well I looks like our team GMTACHESS is pulling out along with some of the others. Too bad, we were looking forward to the race to the top 10 with you guys 🙂 We are going to be looking for another project that we can get into on the ground floor. Maybe a little more of an interview with the admin's this time.

Yes, fvck this (don't say fsck around *NIX gurus because they'll think you mean filesystem check 😉). Neo is screwing up here by bringing back Xbox challenge (which most of their users don't want), and their persistent statistics problems are going to drive away the majority of the rest of their remaining users. Great way to commit suicide, Neo. :|

I for two (or three?) will be dropping the project immediately, giving my main project (F@H) full time on my home systems, and leaving the work rig idle until the SB people can bring out a client that caches WUs (have they done that already?), or perhaps it will run RC5-72. Honestly, I can put up with a certain amount of sh1t from a project - as no projects are perfect - and especially if it is for a worthy cause, but this kind of stuff is just freaking rediculous.

I can't believe the head guy at NEO was such an ASS! :|

I won't link to the post but go look at gmtachess.com's DC forum and look through the NEO threads - you'll see it😉 it is a snippet from an IRC conversation.

We'll see you around RKGMTA - oh and I just beat myself at a game of chess overthere😀😛 kinda dumb to play both players but i couldn't find anyone else that was playing.

mechBgon and I deliberately left NEO out of the recent FAQ drive because of this.

I won't endorse anything which is extremely questionable like the XBOX challenge.
