Amazon has the SNK NEOGEO Pocket Color Console on clearance for $29.99 from $69.99. No, you can't make phone calls on it, but the game selection is great - the way portable gaming should be.

Wow, these kick ass. Too bad they went down the hole. I may pick one of these up for Metal Slug.

*sigh*
I think Sega cursed any hardware it even vaguely endorsed =(
I recall that these could be linked with the Dreamcast to swap data between Dreamcast versions of games and the Pocket version of games...

I was thinking about getting one of these but obviously this went down the drain with the Dreamcast...so unfair because hardware wise I think the two of these had everybody else beat by a few years.

=( if only superior hardware meant winning the video game war...

I bought the NeoGeo in a bundle with 6 games from GameLiquidation.com . It was $60.50 with free shipping.
They also had some good deals on some other classic games and free shipping on everything too.

Youre right, Metal Slug is awesome.
Here are the six games that were included in my bundle:
1. Samurai Showdown 2
2. Fatal Fury First Contact
3. King of Fighters R-2
4. Metal Slug: 1st Mission
5. Neo Turf Masters (Green)
6. Pac Man

Too bad no new games coming for this system. Nevertheless the games produced are pretty kick a$$.

Yeah, I'd like to see some favorite games. I'd love to have a portable system for that cheap, but if Sonic is the only game I'm interested in, it may not be worth it. Are there any great non-fighting games on this thing?

Bust-A-Move should be great on that sytem too.

It's has a more powerful CPU and a better screen than the original 8-bit gameboys. It's much weaker than a GBA or GBA SP. Easily worth the $30 price if you can find cheap ROMs for it. If all the ROMs are around $15, you're better off with a GBA.

$30 but with no games, I think you may as well just get it from EBGames with 6 games...

The platinum silver one is 18. Does Amazon charge tax to all states now? I got charged tax to Illinois and Indiana. And if you guys want games, I suggest you guys to on Ebay. The biggest selection, for the cheapest prices. Does anyone know a good review site for the games?

Tax is charged because it's it's offered by Toys R Us, which has a presence in all states. You get charged tax if your state has a sales tax, that is.

$18 is a great price, but after tax and shipping, it's over $24. I'll wait for one with 6 games at Fry's to drop below $50.

I saw the same bundle in the checklane area of the Renton Fry's. Don't remember the price though.

I received my Platinum Neo Geo today from Amazon and have to say I am very impressed (for the price!). My biggest worry was the screen and it looks terrific! I also bought the 4 game pack from ebgames ($39.99) so that I would have something to play in it.

At any rate, yes, the gamesliquidation.com price for the bundle is definately the best deal. I wish I had waited for that but alas, I'm happy with the outcome.

Yeah, but both DC and NeoGeo have awesome software titles in addition to being some of the best hardware to come out since the 16-bit days. I still play my DC over my Xbox and GC (but Viewtiful Joe has my attention at present).

BTW, thanks OP. I just ordered one.

Yeah, but you don't get Sonic from Gamesliquidation, do you? That seems like it'd be the most appropriate game to get in my opinion. It could be a good time, that's for sure. I have a $10 Amazon gift certificate which might help do the trick. :)

Nooooooo! Is it sold out?!?
