the couple of reviews i ahve seen show sub par stuff. sticky buttons, poor fit etc..

you want NEO GEO.. get NEO GEO.. ebay has the arcade boards (just a NEO GEO for a JAMMA harnes) still takes carts (but not home carts). You can convert one to work on a tv , making it a console of sorts.. $20-30 of actual arcade parts ( joysticks/buttons) and a NEO-GEO 160 in one cart (160 neo -geo games in one cart, google it) $200-300 you have the actual arcade sticks, the actual NEO-GEO games, played on an Actual NEO GEO unit..

I just picked up a Neo-Geo Metal Slug arcade cab for $100 and bought he 168 in 1 ($76 shipped).. was going to take insides out and make a console.. but the cab is kinda nice so for now its in there.. Nice thing is you can pick up MVS (name of arcade NEO-GEO carts) on ebay for $20 on up.. its just like any console.. pull the old cart out, put the new one in, turn on..

Maybe the relaunch will be appealing to some, but come on. We live in the 21st century and technology will only move forward. With games looking almost real, who would wanna play a 16-bit game?

I'd rather have new 16bit games with immersive story and gameplay than photo realistic rails shooters like call of duty.

Or you can have a photorealistic game with substance. You know...it can actually be done.

and it has been done, a lot, this gen. people just love to bitch and complain and be nostalgic. they forget how many shitty games were out back in the 16 bit era too. i remember toys r us where you could see EVERY game. there were WALLS and WALLS of SNES games where 95% of the games were garbage.

Yep...tomb raider is very good and BioShock too. Heck I thought that crysis 3 had its moments where the story was decent. Not great but there was something there that didn't get built upon.

Apparently you and I differ greatly on the term "photorealistic"

But yes, we're getting good looking games that are also fun to play and have some story behind them. The rose tinted glasses on some people is astounding though. Even if you ignore all of the terrible games from back then, the really popular ones didn't age as well as some people like to claim.

read the quote that cmdrdredd quoted before i quoted him.

My full stand up neo was 600$ with 4 games. I purchased more on eBay. Games are more than the setup. Neo was great as a kid. Price killed it. Games were 200$ plus.

I had a neo geo back in the day. $600 console with two joystick pad things and got 3 games. King of Monsters, Samurai Showdown 2, and Fatal Fury: King of Fighters. All 3 were basically fighting games (king of monsters was more of a beat em up of sorts though).

Could just build a counter top Mame cab for $200 and have all the Neo Geo games instead of just a few.

Should add, some people make replica New Geo cabs and only put Neo Geo games on it.

Look up countertop arcade cab. Should make for interesting reading. You could emulate a Neo Geo on very cheap hardware. Get a $100 monitor and $50 for some sticks. $50 in plywood and you have a 2 player cab.
