Maybe the relaunch will be appealing to some, but come on. We live in the 21st century and technology will only move forward. With games looking almost real, who would wanna play a 16-bit game?

Anyone who values when games were more than kill/death ratios and blowing up red barrels and winning the solo campaign in 30 mins.

Yes there was a time when there were games that didn't have dog tags and grenades on the cover art, impossible as it is to believe.

I am sure it is marketed towards the nostalgia crowd. It would be neat to have an official Neo Geo hardware for home and away for those who enjoy its library, but like others have said, it is a little too late. The price I think is pretty fair, considering what you get.

this

ill prob buy one

graphics as i have said are the LEAST important thing about games

hell i prob spent 200$ in quarters playing metal slug and king of fighters in the arcade

Speaking of graphics. Seeing a game in the best graphics possible is always nice, but if graphics was my biggest concern, I would have built a gaming rig years ago. I will never forget the amount of fun I had playing Super Mario Bros on my NES till it died. Although, NES emulators for PC and N64 emulator have kept my mood up during the saddest of times.

I'd like to believe a good game story is more important than the graphics. Then again, a mix of both would be good. 🙂

i'll probably pick one up. the 8 bit / 16 bit era was and still is my favorite times for gaming. grew up playing the nes, snes, genesis, sega cd, turbografx etc. 16 bit gaming was simple, fun, and addictive.

$200 is pretty damn pricey. For that matter it doesn't mention that you'll be able to download/purchase additional games for the system.

I'm guessing you have little to no experience with it?

Graphics have almost zero to do with it, even though well-done 2D animation can look nearly as impressive as quality 3d, at least from an artistic standpoint.

Samurai Showdown (any, really) or The Last Blade 2 are miles better than crap that "looks" better like Soul Calibur IV *shudder* or Street Fighter 4.

Gameplay is what matters.

I need to pick up a low serial Neo Geo AES and run it on my PVM. /drool

Never got into it. Fighting games just aren't my thing since SFII.

One of the few games that would be a must have are also one of the most expensive (original North American release Metal Slug).

Were there any RPG or Action RPG type games at all? A single 24 bit color 16 bit JRPG would be all I need to justify me picking one up. :awe:

Looks neat =). I guess you really just have to ask yourself what you'd have to pay for a brand new never opened original Neo Geo.

The Neo Geo's catalogue was mostly quick-fix arcade games, not to mention the fact that it was also the graphics tarts choice of console.

I never really cared for fighting games. I like sports games on the current consoles, but I'm not into retro sports games. I like retro RPGs and platformers. Is there any reason for me to get a neo geo?

I will buy it if it can run Samurai Shodown II the same way it ran when I played it at the arcade 20 years ago. All ports I've seen are crap.

Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown. I'm down for 1!

I loved Samurai Shodown. Wasn't part of the reason the Neo Geo didn't sell well was because it was super expensive back then, like several hundred more than the SNES, etc?

new thing is still way too expensive, imo.

ah yep:
Of course, all that came at a price: At $650 (over $1100 today), it was too expensive to be popular.

I love Neogeo games... if I can get a joystick that is arcade quality plus quality ports... I'm sold!!!!!!! I'm a badass at KOF98... I'm down for some Mental Slut action too...

Went ahead and picked up a Gold Limited Edition for $199. If anything it will be a short lived limited niche item and I might as well get one new and complete in box now before the only place you can get one later is on ebay for $9999999. 🙄:\

I had a Neo Geo and later a CD based version back in the day but could not see buying one now at all.

All the games are available on emulators or have been ported to other systems. As has been said, it's mostly fighting games.
