Nemo burnt in on a big screen TV

Bro inlaw bought a used Sony 58" for $1100 from one of them overpriced places that charges you double of what the item is worth by the time its paid off.

Anyway he said it was regular like $3000-$3500 new(getting it from them). Dealer said ppl who had it last left Nemo menu screen playing over the weekend and it had Nemo burnt in on the screen. Also was told it is barely noticeable.

Curious would this effect the TV over a certain period of time? I know nothing about them.

aside from being annoying, I don't think it'd have any major effect.

we have a couple crt monitors with the "windows 2000, press crtl, alt, delete to login" screen burnt into them at work, and they function fine (aside from the obvious).

How the hell did he get it into his trailer?

I for one would have never bought it. But my bro inlaw doesn't think before he acts. I haven't seen the TV yet but he said it was barely noticeable . You can probably only see it when the TV is off.

that sucks...but you can always try running some static on it for a little while, it might help. And I don't really believe that just one weekend of a menu burnt the image into the screen. it was probably a floor model at one point and Nemo was the demo disc, or the previous users had it longer than just a weekend.

Ugh $1199 for a TV with a burned in image, never would've paid that much for it and they probably had new ones way over regular retail price.

He got completely ripped off. A TV with a burned in image is worthless to them unless they can get some sucker to walk in the door and fall for it. They probably already made a profit on the TV as it went from house to house until it was finally ruined by someone leaving Nemo on for days. $1,100 is a lot of cash for a TV that already has known problems, and has had multiple owners.

OMG! a 65 inch Sony Widescreen HDTV can be had for around $1800. A 57 inch for around $1400. A POS Nemo 4:3 that is at least three generations old! Return that STAT!

that's the first thing I thought too, that it got Nemo burn-in from being a display model. Stores like to use CG cartoons with fakey colors so you can't tell how sh!tty their TV's are at displaying skin tones.

He just got it a week ago. I haven't seen it yet. WOW  didn't know big screens was that cheap nowdays. Man he did get ripped  .

When you say that they charge him double after he pays it off, i'm assuming you mean he got it through some Rent-to-Own place? Won't people EVER learn that these places are the worst for having to overpay...

😀

Sadly, the people I know who have went through places like that have absolutely terrible credit. For the same price that they paid for their furniture (which usually sucks), I have something 10x nicer. Man, it really does pay off to be smart when you're younger.
