Turns out he's an anti-anti-vaxxer.

I don't think I could have guessed which way he'd go.

With his (mixed) track record on anything political I could have expected him to go the way of Van Morrison or Clapton - and in any case attitudes to vaccines really don't line up that well with people's established political views.

Neil Young has demanded that his music be removed from Spotify due to vaccine misinformation spread by podcaster Joe Rogan on the streaming service, saying: “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

I doubt Spotify will dump Rogan. He's a cash cow. However, if other artists chime in...

This seems 100% on brand with his past. 404 surprise not found.

Well it always stuck in my mind that he supported Ronald Reagan's run for a second term.
Also, rock musicians don't seem to be the most reliable or consistent bunch when it comes to politics.

He's just not the name that would have come to mind in predicting someone taking such a pro-active stance - but three cheers for him doing so. About time someone called these 'platform providers' to account for the stuff they disseminate.

Am I mis-reading/understanding something here? It seems to me that Young was saying that as long as Spotify continue to give Rogan and his anti-vax opinions a platform, Young will take his music elsewhere?

Based on my understanding, that would make Young not an anti-vaxxer?

Not sure what your point is. Yes, it makes him an anti-anti-vaxxer.

Rogan supposedly has some kind of massive penalty clause or guaranteed payments if they remove him. He’s not going anywhere.

Yea, that was my read too ... I assumed I was just being cross eyed or something ... maybe Rogan endorsed the vaccine at some point in-between deworming himself, I dont know.

edit : Oh .. anti-anti :). Close the windows on them double negatives man.

The UFC is heavily Trump Stupid .. and that shit is rubbing off on Rogan. Too bad. I used to enjoy some of his podcasts ... but fuck that shit.

You know who else is an anti vaxxer? John fucking Stockton. What the hell.

Amazing. Read about his tickets being revoked because he will not get vaccinated. Truly an amazing hill to die on. Surprise.

Per what I heard on the stern show this morning, Neil Young had Polio as a kid (similar to Moscow Mitch) and that infection didn’t paralyze him but it made one side of his body numb. He can’t feel well on one side maybe his right side I forgot. As a result he has always been a huge vaccination supporter.
As above I agree his time is over and at this time I am confident Rogan attracts more revenue however that is irrelevant Young does not want his content to be a gateway to anti vax bullshit so he decided to have his stuff pulled.

That's good news, all he can do is vote his conscience and take his business elsewhere. Any move no matter how small is good, when it comes to fighting disinformation.

Not the first time musicians supported politicians that seem to go against type.

So true. It is absolutely vital that we see no evil, speak no evil or hear no evil. Uncertainty is a bitch. Uncomfortable and unsettling.

Why just last night I found somebody saying the government was providing research funds to monkey with virus genetics resulting in Covid escaping a lab in China and a huge conspiracy is taking place to protect the guilty, including Anthony Fauci. A lot of the conversation was about how much effort was being expended to make sure the truth isn’t taken seriously. We need to do everything we can to help.

Rock-a-bye Baby on the tree tot……..

Ah, that’s better……

Yea, that OR, by financing him by listening to his podcast(that is how that shit works today), I become part of the problem.. So I voice my objection by boycotting. Much how the grownups use sanctions in them geopolitics.

And understand this, I dont give a crap about my own salvation, Trumpism is evil, fuck that shit, stomp that shit out. Twice.
Rogan wanna moron? Hes on the list.
If Peterson dances with the devil cause them subs and fame - he on the list.
So on and so forth.

I am 99.99% sure these people know better - but money.
If I am the last intolerant asshole thats left when all is said and done Ill take the dive myself.

I politely express disinterest when the religious knock on my door though, while that used to be frequently, it have not seen it for years. I am 99.999999% sure I have heard it all before and don’t want to waste my time. The particular video I watched was long and full of off topic info of little interest to me and the whole thing was full of the feeling of an atmosphere created by somebody whiting to make a ghost story spooky. But I suffered through it because a friend asked me to. Someone of paranoid nature who bought in early that Covid came out of a Chinese lab and who is close to me I dismissed when that feeling was expressed to me. Looking back on that, and knowing just how much any truth of that nature really would be repressed, I regret being so absolutely sure of myself. I think I felt bad about them worrying about something I thought was untrue like worrying about space aliens.

So even though I know I don’t know anything I forget and fall for thinking I do. Watching the video I was sent reminded me of that.

I get that way when I run into information that disturbs or challenges what I believe as dangerous misinformation. I’m a Karen.
