I think that the biggest problem with freedom of speech in america is by making it cover everything you are automatically impacting people's freedom from offensive speech, it needs to be 50/50

You have no such freedom from offensive speech, we have freedom OF speech, not freedom FROM. That's the whole point, once you start trying to argue what "freedom from offense" is then it's a small number of people deciding what that is.

There is no such thing as freedom from offense in America. The very meaning of the 1st amendment was to make sure there were no laws made based on that premise.

That's fair, you can't really have someone deciding what is offensive and what isn't but what about freedom from hate? or freedom from having you rights infringed? I wouldn't have said hate is as subjective as offense...?

nope. as much as i would like to see every one of those asshats muzzled its their right as americans even the hate speech they spew.

they toe a very thin line. they preach their views like "God hates fags" blah blah blan. they do not say "we are going to kill every i love you and jew we see". then it becomes threats and that is is a problem.

I see your point, but to me both are a problem, if you stood somewhere in the UK with a sign that said god hates fags you get arrested, and so you should! They have no more right to preach that kind of jizz than I do to go over and fart on them...
