We've all got lots that are an acre or larger, most of them wooded to some extent. His probably cost about $25k to buy 10 years ago. And we only have a liesurely 15 minute drive to get into town. One of the few perks of living in the midwest. Cheap land out in the sticks.

I could go out and buy a pile of farm ground for $1500 an acre if I wanted. But it wouldn't be subdivided, easily suitable for building, as near the schools, have walking trails, high speed cable, natural gas or snow removal like a developed lot.

Or I could hit up those adds they have in the seatbacks of airplanes and buy myself 10 acres in the middle of Colorado or Montana for $300 an acre and have to airlift myself in for access.
