neighbor burning brush

moshquerade

No Lifer
you know there oughtta be a law, and there probably is but it isn't enforced, a neighbor of mine is burning brush and who knows what else and the sooty smell is blowing right my way.

that's wrong. :|

he either has to have an open buring permit, or it is illegal, atleast here in ohio.

you could call the fire department and they would come and make him put it out.

MIKE

Does he do it regularly or something? If it's just an isolated occurense, just keep your windows closed for a couple of hours or something, I don't think there's a need to create a huge fuss over it.

he doesn't do it often, but has before. it just infriges on my clean air.
and i'm not gonna call the fire dept - he'd find out i called and i don't wanna start a feud.

It infringes on your clean air? Gimme a break!!! Damn Nazi. You're probably one of those people that if they happen to sit next to a smoker does a fake little cough the whole time to try and shame the person into putting it out. Bah!! I'm not even a smoker and those indignant non smoking types make me want to put my foot up their ass.

So your neighbor is burning some brush...wah wah wah....get over it. The air in your house is still probably more polluted than the smoke filled air outside.

If you aren't going to do anything, why bother complaining?

hahaha it infringes on my clean air

what next, coming on ATOT to whine about someone's car exhaust infringing on your clean air?

Why not go talk to him and let him know that it bothers you? He probably doesn't realize that it bothers you. Talk to him and work something out, like burning on specific days so that you can be out and at the beach or something. While what he is doing may not be completely legal, it seems like a fairly trivial matter that isn't worth the cops and fines.

The typical emissions from an automobile is one thing... but have you ever seen what comes out of a brush fire?

That could easily make your whole house smell like sh!t, even with the windows closed!

My gf's best friend had a bonfire one Thanksgiving, she's so smart that she accidently burned some poison ivy. Probably wasn't much since no one else had any reactions but my gf who is extremely sensitive to it had a puffy face for a few days.

would you rather his yard become overgrown and like a jungle with snakes and rats spilling over into your yard?

ya the smoke can be annoying, but hes just doing yard work. not like hes doing it just to ba an asshole.

If there are snakes, there probably wouldnt be rats now would there...

I had a moron for a neighbor do the same thing about a month ago...thing is we're in a new development where the houses are like 10 feet apart and it's actually a fire hazard. Called the cops and they were out in record time to make her put it out.

They need to do what I did and buy yard waste bags and fill them up for their trash company to pick up. I filled up 28 of those damn things this spring. Would I rather burn it, you bet, it's easier and cheaper, but I know it's also illegal. (at least where I am)

I guess some of you guys actually haven't experienced people burning brush or garbage? Because it's awful, and i sure as hell would tell them not to or i'll call the cops. There's a reason why it's illegal in most places to do it.

I'm having a bbq, I'm destroying the air of all my neighbors.

If you're gonna make them smell it, you might as well offer some. 😉 Now I'm hungry.

Sigh. I used to love the smell of burning leaves in the fall when I was young.

It wasn't until my late wife and I bought our house that I lived in a place where you could still burn leaves again. I have 40-50 trees. I was ecstatic. All I had to do was alert the township office and they would give me a permit good for one week.

Then, last year, they finally made it illegal here. McMansions, yuppies with trophy wives, the old farms going . . . bah, humbug!

I built a big stone lined fire pit and still make all the controlled wood fires I want when friends come over.

Working with fire is primal. That's why all you guys love your gas grills.

Feeding my pit, my knuckles are one step closer to the ground than yours.
