Who cares? It isn't possible to use 8GB with LGA1366, anyway. You'd have to step down to 6GB, or make the move to 12GB, which would cost you alot more than both the processor and motherboard, if 4GB sticks of DDR3 existed yet.

AFAIK i7 can run in dual channel mode as well.

The chips offically went out to the M/B Day after IDF . I don't know how long they have to test them first, I would say first Qt. But I won't sat who will be first. If its a Gpu maker I would say AMD because there more open. If its a M/B I say ASUS.

The marked die shot looks messed up to me:

1. The L2 is arranged in between blocks of L3? WTH? That doesn't look right. I found another version saying it's write buffers with the L2 in the core rectangle, but still, it looks a bit screwed up.

2. Obviously, it's 3 channel DDR3.
