2.66, 2.93, 3.2 at launch... which considering the new design is actually incredible from our viewpoint. Even more incredible is just how high they clock at this point on somewhat immature X58 platforms. Hopefully that headroom remains at launch. That is all I can say... ;)

LOL...

Gary, your evil!!!

even gave us a wink in that last response.

Absolutely EVIL!

I know the answer to that question tho. :p

btw that chiphall bench was done on a 2.6 Please keep note of that. The lowest end bloomfield.

Trust me, you guys are gonna freak out when you see the highest one. ;)
This is all i can say...

mmm... but they are no longer overclockable, not with the new scheme for setting speed. So you have to spring for a eXtreme (vomits at marketing) version if you want to OC.

Well, we all know that they're already in the wild, so to speak. Okay, some of us do, at least.;)

Has this been proven yet?

The motherboards might not be so friendly on the wallet though, especially the models of the X58 that also include the nForce 200 chip. I guess they'll eventually do a "performance" grade chipset (P55?) for the rest of us. At least DDR3 has been on a steady price decline.

Very impressive pricing.
That is only a very mild premium compare to the Q9400 that will be priced at $266 or cheaper then the Q9550 for $316.

But who knows maybe Intel will drops prices on the C2Q when the Nehalem's come out.

One question about Nehalem:
What's going to happen in the budget market?
Since Nehalem has IMC, and no Core 2 chips do, presumably we will see Core 2 stay on as the budget line with 4x chipsets and DDR 2 or 3 for at least another 18~24 months? I mean, unless Intel make a dual core version of Nehalem (anyone heard about plans for that?) they are still going to need an actual budget line (I wouldn't consider $200+ chips, ignoring high prices for new motherboards and DDR3 RAM which will be expensive even come release vs DDR2 as anywhere close to budget).

Yes it's bad news for AMD in terms of consumers like us, but what are Intel going to do with the actual budget/mainstream market?
I can see 32nm Quad Nehalem being made available as $133 or so budget chips maybe by Q4 09, but that's 18 months away.

LGA775 will still be around for awhile I bet X58 class is just replacing the X48/X38 stuff we have now, a P35/P45 replacement isn't coming in till we get LGA1160, which starts Early to Mid 2009 I think.

LGA775 will probably serve as the mainstream/budget platform for the interim period.

Let's see how low Intel's going to go with Quad to compete so far we're looking at a new low of $203 for Q3 2008. The way things have been going we may see the Quad's become the 150-200 by Late 2009, replacing the premium Core 2 Duo line out now in that price range.

lonyo, i know the answers to this.

but i cant say for obvious reasons.

i was trying to show people what i saw by nodding or pointing. But not physically stating the obvious.

i hope you can see why i was like that in that deneb thread. I am not talking fan boyism.

i just know a lot more about neha then most people on this forum.

I think i will be one of the first on the forum to grab one. :T
Well minus Gary and Anand. :p

While I can join you (actually my tech people) in having samples, unfortunatly (if you can call it that) being a corporate buyer I have no overclocking options available to me.

But what I can tell you is today we finalized our four year PC plan, and AMD is nowhere to be seen on it.

Too bad - for AMD again - as we have made a 45K unit commitment to HP for 2009.
