by accident on the same day as shanghai launch no news on TDP range yet. But the price is good . The 2p should compete well with K10.5 in 4p. Than compare power numbers .

I know penryn was the parent technology and from that sprang wolfdale (dual-core), yorkfied (quad for desktop), and harpertown (xeon quad)...but does anyone know how it is going to work for Nehalem?

At what point do we stop referring to Xeon Nehalems and start calling them by their internal code? (is it gainestown? or is that the platform itself and not the chip?)

At any rate now that Shanghai numbers are out I am most curious to see some performance/watt comparisons.

I suppose Nehalem Xeon will still have FBDIMM, so the power-consumption numbers will be unfavorably higher than they otherwise could be.

Not too unlike the combination of 2W Atom with 10W chipset making the package have uninspiring performance/watt numbers.

IC7 isn't Fb dimms. I have never read that it is ever . Gota link. Is what your going to find out is this . Intel has the upper hand this round on dimms. 1.5 v DDR3 ecc. So really Idontcare this round intel has all the cards. AMd would have had a small window on servers. But with the meltdown that window isn't so good anymore as belts tighten.

the W's are gonna be limited to the ultra high end servers, and apples.

The X's are most likely the 2 x QPI enabled processors which enable dual cpu communication.

The E's will be the server/enterprise LGA1366 with 1 x QPI enabled.

Dammit... enterprise hardware getting sexier and gaming hardware getting duller... I must be getting old...

If the W is highend server. Isn't that cpu really cheap. That can't be right these paarts are 1p and 2p 4p comes later. AMD better hope alot latter.

The W could also mean 130W

E = 95W
