I need to by an 4-Pin to 3-Pin Adapter so I can use the fan controller I bought. The only problem is I need to find one in a store to pick up because I am moving soon so I really don't want to have to wait until I am moved to buy one. I was looking at CompUSA's and Circuit City's website and they have 3 to 4 pin adapters. Would one of those work both ways? Heres the links.....

Those are all the exact opposite of what you need.

I dont see what you need on the CompUSA website, but I know I bought them there a few years ago. Maybe you should just leave your fans on full throttle and live with the noise for a few extra days. You coul get creative and splice wires, but I think you would regret that later.

Yeah, thats what I thought. I was just hoping maybe one of those worked both ways. I can't believe COMPUSA doesn't have them. I would think they would be needed more than 3 to 4 pin adapters?

One other option, if your fans were setup like my panaflo's is to de-tail them and re-tail them yourself.

It was a case of 'pull old 4-pin connector out, push new 3-pin connector in'. Soldering may be required if you dont have the same kind of fan system. Check where the wires go in, under the label and if it has a little 3-pin connector then you'd be able to re-tail it without soldering.

Since when does a controller need an adapter? All the ones I've seen use a standard drive connector for power in and 3-pin connectors for each fan for power out. Please give more detail. Is the 3 pin connector you need male or female - is the 4 pin connector you need male (the one on HDs, etc.) or female (the ones from the PSU, etc.)?
. IAC, jab-tech.com and SVC.com probably have what you need (4 pin male to 3 pin female).
jab-tech also has fan connector shells and contacts if you just want to cut the drive power connector off the fan and make it standard 3-pin... Not hard to do if you're handy with needle nose pliers and solder.
