Hey guys I am new to all of this and trying to learn I've picked out some parts (that i think look good haha) and want to just double check and make sure they all will work with each other. I would appreciate any input and I am trying to build this thing on a budget but still be able to do school work and play flight sim X on it. Let me know what you think! Thanks, Joe

As is the Intel is about 30% more power. It can be OC with No extra hardware to provide twice the power of the AM2.

I see that you say that FSX rocks on 9500 Agena 2.2GHz 95W Quad-Core Processor but it's a little out of my budget will it still run ok with something like Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor that was mention above?
 
Just an FYI: I generally don't even look at a thread that doesn't have a pretty explanatory and specific title on it. I expect many other do the same. If I have knowledge on the topic I may drop in, but I don't have time to check out every nebulously titled thread to see what kind of help is needed.

For the money, the E2180 is a fantastic processor. Bear in mind that you can also really easily overclock it and get more performance out of it if that's what you need.

Like all things in life it boils down to price (and a plan!)

I noticed that 'school work' was the first 'requirement' you listed. That's the most important thing. Any system listed here will help you accomplish this task!

All things being equal, I would rank the extra $30 for the 8800gs adding the most to your gaming experience.

The e2180 is a great proc. The hidden value in an Intel proc is it's ability to overclock well beyond what AMD may offer at a similar price point. If you would like to overclock in this case I would recommend the E2200 Allendale 2.2GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W for the simple fact that it has an 11x multliplier.

The 'thang' about FSX is that a 'budget' system can't really do it justice. If FSX is your true love you really need a plan and an estimated budget from now over the next 12-18 months. Then you can 'build' a system over time (multiple monitors, quad core CPU, 'flight' controllers etc)

It may make sense to buy a single core Conroe-L or AMD cpu today, combined with an inexpensive video card and suffer the pain, knowing you can replace the cpu and video card over the next 6-9-12 months with a quad phenom or q6600.

Putting the extra $$$ into a better mobo with 2 PCIe x16 slots (for those multiple video cards running 3 or 4 monitors - 🙂 ) may be where you want to start ???.

It's your commitment and choice. If you let your girlfriend and family know maybe they can help you with this enterprise on birthdays, holidays, etc.
