Well, i'm not sure if this is a good place to post or not, but..why not? ^_^

I am in need of a job so that me and the wife can move. She just recently graduated w/ her BA in Psychology. She has not job leads *yet* so we'll move almost anywhere. She's wanting to be a 'social worker'. I am wanting to pick up a decent job so that we can move and then she can find a job in the state. We live in Arkansas at the moment, i am making almost $10/hr at my current job (manual labor) I am needing something that has no pre-requisites or education. Would prefer some form of clerical (loved working at Xerox, just didn't make enough money when i lived in the town) so, anything you've got, lemme know. We'd both be appreciative. If you know your state is hiring for social worker (or similar title) also, please let me know and we'll apply. ^_^

AT ROCKS!

Frankly dude, it's hard to deal with, but it is a mad house out there. THer are many many jobs just waiting for you, but you probably won't like most of them.

My advice would be to advise you that if you love your wife and are intent on having her dreams come true, you will get any stinking job that you can find (through a temp agency or otherwise) and then get work counseling whiel you are earnign some money so that you can get an accurate assement of the local blue-collar job market from someone who deals with employers everyday.

It sucks man, but being a matyr is a royal pain in the ass....I am tryign to go somewhere myself, and find myself working in conditiosn athat were at one time deplorable in my view compared to my old jobs, but it has a future, and a very bright one at that, so I am stickign with it + school.

lol...thanks JS80 for the comments. ^_^ And no, $10/hr in AR isn't rich, its scraping by alright. But nothing great, i'm lucky to make that. =/
I'm going to go to school once we get moved, i just don't want an AR degree. Argh!

DrainBramaged...possibly, i'll have the wife look it over (more targeted toward her). Thanks.

OP, how far are you from Little Rock? I have some friends that are working for large companies such as hospitals, insurances, beverages distribution, and universities that may have some leads.

I'm with the understanding that for social work she'll need a Master's degree to find employment.

That was my initial thought as well.

Good luck to the OP.

EDIT: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a master's degree is pretty much the standard these days for social work.

Not to far at all, bout 3hrs right now. We both agree that we wouldn't mind moving there. Also they have a nice Masters program she was thinking of going for. We WANT to get out of AR, but, Little Rock would be a nice change. The pop. here is 20k. ^_^
If you have any leads, please PM me, or email me.

Yea, my wife plans to get her Masters in a few yrs, she's just wanting to try and get some experience in and everything. She graduated Sume Cume Laude (3.9GPA) so she's pretty bright. ^_^ Her original intention was to go straight into the Masters program but then found out her chances are better if she got some experience in.

She needs to go back to school if she expects to make more than $20k with that degree. There are so many people with psychology degrees around here working phone support for various companies, it's not even funny....in fact, that degree as well as other BAs are a joke. You have to get a second degree in some kind of applied science to make them worth anything.

State of Tennessee

Check out the PDF of job listings. There are two for social worker types. Not sure if you r wife meets the experience requirements. Also, there are a tons of jobs available in Nashville in the range you are looking for. Heck, check out the PDF for yourself as well for other state jobs.

Doesn't appear that they have any positions actually open. My wife said she has checked on this one. The title she's looking to get is 'Children's Services Case Manager'. Its says that they have one open in the main page but then whenever you go to look thru counties, they have 0 positions. We'll just put an app in anyhow. Thanks Rudder.
